^To tag onto that, what's with people listening to music or watching a movie on a plane not using headphones? I've encountered this twice recently. Get some self awareness, folks.

I think Covid lockdown made people even more self absorbed. Some were always just animals, others have forgotten how to socially interact.

In a perfect world they would all be turfed on an island together, never to annoy considerate people again.

That is just straight madness.

Also, I don't know if I'm just noticing it more recently or what, but it feels like in the past 5-6 years there's a LOT more instigators/antagonizers out there, who just love to get on people's nerves like it's something to do.
I'll never understand that mentality, but it seems a lot more prevalent the past several years.

Absolutely. It seems to correlate with someone south of the border making people think it's ok to be so outwardly toxic. Like being irrationally cruel and aggressive is something to be proud of.

Where’s the common sense of “maybe I shouldn’t annoy everyone else here”? People are the worst. Wear headphones. If you don’t have any, don’t blast your music through your phone speaker.

this is why I invested in a home gym . as long as you can do all your compound movements you're good to go .. the extra equipment for more spacific muscle targeted exercises isn't worth the hassle of other people

There isn't much that is worth the hassle of other people. But ya, that's why I went with a home gym. That, and it's way cheaper and more convenient.

yup . you just have to be more self motivated to make use of it . many aren't , which is why they have to be at the physical gym . if you can be disciplined enough to choose your workout over the couch on a regular basis then you'll gain a lot vs the alternative because of saved time, money and hassle

Yeah, you are right. The pen is too important, it is one of the few things I have from a Grandparent I don't remember.

I ran into a guy at the airport listening to music through his phone speaker while sitting by the gate annoying everyone. I asked him if he forgot his headphones, then told him he can buy some 20' away at the store.
I didn't stick around, if someone is that oblivious they have to be half a lunatic. I hate their guts.

Along the same lines, and further to the flu thread, there are a lot of people who seem to have no qualms whatsoever about going out in public and coughing all over everyone. At least wear that mask you no doubt still have in a drawer somewhere from when they were mandatory... I don't like wearing the damned things but at this point I would be pretty okay if they brought that mandate back for flu season every year.

And then you boarded the plane and found yourselves sitting side by side for 8 hours?

I know there's trackers and stuff, but this was kind of a creepy response from a guy after I got his first email and checked their website
