how many games of those 6 do they win with a .91 save%?

< .900 games happen but 2 of every 3 should be above water if your goaltending is average or better

The amount of lazy plays is mind blowing. Little cute passes, or dump ins, with zero intensity, usually getting picked off on the boards by the other team. I just don't understand..

Markstrom might be irreparably broken.

the defensive positioning has been collapsing in the 3rd with less than 10 mins, blowing leads and losing. 8mins left in the 3rd and you give the home team a breakaway? where's the Sutter hockey locking down in the 3rd holding the lead or protecting a tie?

The team as a whole is not getting it done.

It's early but the season already looks like it's going off the rails. Markstrom should not be playing in back to back games. Darryl may think he's doing what's necessary but it's not working, nor does it look like they are close to turning the corner. It looks like a bad team getting the results they deserve.

Only 3 more years of Markstrom after this year.

I need to give the Flames credit. Everyone wanted them to rebuild...they tricked us with the Tkachuk and Kadri trade.. this is a rebuild afterall

I don't agree with that at all. They let him off the hook numerous times.

Also gotta question Sutters decision to have Lewis out there over Toffoli ecspecially after the TO. One guy scored the goal to tie it up. The other did nothing all game. Baffling decisions.
I think Toffoli was out there, on the point, but that doesn't change the fact that he had Lewis out there with the goalie pulled.

Team battled back to tie it. Markstrom let’s a softie in against the flow of the game. Pretty frustrating.

I think they’ll be okay.

Every goalie we play is the difference. That should tell you something.

Our $6M goalie giving up minimum 1 weak goal every game.

This trend can't continue or this team is in trouble.

And Mangiapane is really starting to look like Neal 2.0. And it brings me great sadness to say that as I have always been a fan of his.

Flames are 30th in the league in PDO at .965

Only teams lower are Columbus (3-9-0) and St Louis (3-8-0).

When you look at it that way it’s remarkable that they are 5-5-2 despite terrible goaltending (.882 - 28th) and finishing (8.35% - 26th).

The underlying stats are still strong, just need those percentages to turn around.

Calgary makes a big splash in the offseason to bring in some big name players. They're predicted as cup favorites with one of the deepest defenses in the league. They start the season strong and look to finally prove the naysayers wrong. Then everything falls apart, the big name signings are big disappointments, the "deepest defense" looks absolutely terrible, and there's a Sutter behind the bench making questionable lineup decisions

Say hello to your 2010 Calgary Flames

At least the Blues don’t sign older players to long contracts.

That, and the 5v5 icetime tonight, was just completely inexplicable from the head coach.

let's look at today's replays, if any goalies got scored on with basically a breakaway from the high slot, they're broken and to blame for a losing streak?

What the heck are you watching? Could’ve easily won any of the last 3 games. Just need our goalie to make .90 of the saves.

1) You cannot have night after night of 3 or 4 goal games because no team in the NHL consistently wins every game by scoring 4 or 5 goals. You have to be able to win by 3 or occasionally 2 goals. This means:

a) your goalie has to be better and
b) your TEAM defence has to be better including forwards who (all of them) look lost on where to be and who to pick up.

2) we have had some bad luck in D injuries. Tanev, Kylington, Stone are all big losses and then as Sutter said people stepping up have not been good (in fact, they’ve been bad). Meanwhile Hanifin and Weegar could be better too and I’d say have been average. Andersson has been, occasionally good but should be off the PP and Zadorov has been the lone good player on D consistently.

3) Sutter reliance on grinders is costing the team valuable time to build energy and momentum in the game. I think he is trying to send a message but it’s confusing and not working so he should keep it simple and coach with strategy (aka use your good Forwards). None of this Lewis and Lucic in the final minutes stuff especially when you need a goal, it is crazy.

4) Dube and Mangiapane need to seriously pull their heads out of their asses. They need a talking to. Like, wtf are they even doing.

5) Drive to the middle of the net. I think they were doing a slightly better job of this tonight / at the end of the game but they need to create traffic and crash / bang.

Could be balls deep into a rebuild…instead we tied our horse to a old, expensive, broken down wagon filled with 8 more years worth of ####.
