Because power plays always dump the puck in where Smith can get it. Eye roll

The temperature is high in oil country. Hoping for a couple more losses and the wheels will really come off.

Hmmmmmm, well, he might get the puck out once or twice a game, I suppose that might help
and
He will also throw it in front of the net to an opposing player every so often.....
so
definately
YES
this is the problem for sure
Trade Campbell
Reactivate Smith
The cup is a given after that!

I think he is suggesting Campbell should take up the Smith torch, and play that way. I support this idea, start next game!

Either way would be fine, as long as the end result is another Smith in net.

Ha ha ha. Would anyone be shocked if a masked person attacked Campbell rendering him unable to play and Mike Smith makes a miraculous recovery from his fake injuries?

This will undoubtedly be nothing but helpful to the Oilers current struggling, starting goalie who famously suffers from frequent major lapses in confidence.

I see getting to the final four has now become synonymous with winning a Stanley Cup in Edmonton. In five years when McDavid is playing for another team Oilers fans will wax poetically about getting to the final four in 2022 like that's some sort of accomplishment akin to winning a championship. All it means is you failed at the halfway point of the journey.

McDavid is in the prime of his career right now. But the Oilers have put a lot of hard time on those tires.

Does McDavid lose his effectiveness a bit if he loses that half step, and his cross overs aren't quite as fast.

I mean is he capable of evolving his game. Doing a re-invention ala Yzerman?

The bottom line, is that this team is really worse then last years semi final team. The blueline is worse and the starting goalie is worse, and you can't count on Skinner to carry the mail and play 60 games.

For Oiler fans the months of Jan to April of this year might resemble a grim death march of just get this season over with so we can be mad when the Conna doesn't get all the individual rewards. Accuse the league of screwing the Oilers and start planning draft parties.

Its going to be tough to improve that team with its limited cap space, and if they want a top 3 defense, they're going to either have to give up a 1st round pick and Holloway who btw has looked awful. Or one of their top 6 not named Draisaitl or McDavid. Though Draisaitl is probably at his top value.

Oh and predict . . . spoiler. Draisaitl two years from now announces that at the end of his contract he's returning to play in the German Elite League, and McDavid demands his release so he and Pissy can finally win a championship together . . . in Europe.

Talk about reverse Pissy! What does Toronto have to do with McDavid (hint hint).

Oiler fans are weirdly fixated on Toronto. That DNL fool on twitter is constantly on that. I think that the Oiler fans feel personally insulted that Matthews was considered to be better then McDoofus last year.

both teams they played basically folded . it was the easiest final four appearance in nhl history and then they got smoked by the first team playing playoff level hockey

hardly much of a feat

It’s so good that they’ll never realize a “Dman that’s like an extra goalie out there” is what they need.

Winning 8 of the necessary 16 games is not close.

Campbell’s police report: “I didn’t recognize him but he had long stringy hair and he smelled like his clothes hadn’t been washed since last years playoffs. He gave me the stink eye as he said ‘I play just like the third defence man.’ He kept his hands on his groins but I just didn’t have enough confidence to outrun him.”
