They're sold out. So no Mattea Beer for me

But yeah, the categories are really hard for this tournament.

You are both wrong. The worst category is Shakespeare.

I cycle through Whitman, Dickinson and Frost.
Stumble into a right one from time to time.

I have read a fair bit of Shakespeare, by that I mean 'more than you have to in school,' attended plays, etc. and I have probably learned more about Shakespeare through Jeopardy than anywhere else.

The works of Shakespeare just seems like this bottomless well that Jeopardy loves to go back to.

Its as good a strategy as any.

Oh yeah. I almost never know the answer unless its a low-dollar question like:

For $200...

"In what work of Shakespeare were there Star Crossed lovers?"

My go to U.S. President guess is "Taft". Which is awesome when it's actually right.

The ToC obviously has tougher material, but I am finding this particular tournament extremely hard

That was a lot of fun. Loved the fact Eric did a true Daily Double back to back.

that's the right play. End the game there. Bet on yourself.
Aggressive players win. Conservative players do not.
The Daily Doubles have become key parts of the game if you have several strong players going head to head.

Of course it always depends on the category. If I stumbled into a daily double that was "Poems about rivers in the Bible" I would probably wager $200.

We haven't seen Amy, Matt or Matea yet. Surely they aren't going to have those top 3 go head to head in the first round are they?

No, they were given a bye to the next round.

The first 6 days are to determine the people who will be taking on those three in the next round. There's one more quarterfinal on Monday, then the semifinals start on Tuesday. There will be 3 semis, with Amy, Matt, and Matea each playing in one of them. The winners of the three semis will play in the Finals, which will start next Friday.

The Finals will be played as separate games (no score rollover) and the champion will be the first to win 3 games. It could be over in 3 games or it could take as many as 7.

Because today is election day in the US, Jeopardy will be pre-empted in most markets where it airs in prime time. That's one reason they decided to make today's episode an "exhibition" game between the three super-champs from the last year. The other reason is that today is also the 2nd Anniversary of Alex's passing.

Also, because of the high number of pre-emptions, they have made the episode available on the official Jeopardy YouTube channel...

I really liked the exhibition game.

Had a relaxed Celebrity Jeopardy vibe, with contestants joking, taking stabs in the dark when they normally wouldn't and Ken Jennings screaming "OH S***!!!!"

Makes you see everyone as real people.

Anyway, here's hoping Mattea takes it all

Matt seemed off but also didn't seem to be really trying.
But it was a lot of fun. I hope these are the 3 finalists as seeing them go toe to toe for the entire series will be a blast.
Jeopardy is a pretty serious game show, so seeing a more loose version was pretty neat.
