I don't think you can bury the best Flame so far this season onto the 3rd line. It would send the wrong message.

I think you keep the lines the same as they are now, just give the top lines more minutes. How does Darryl expect these guys to get out of their funks and develop more chemistry if their minutes are restricted every night?

I really wish Sutter would reunite Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman. With so much roster turnover, this team needs some sort of stability. That line is the only thing we can trust right now.
You should be if you ever want this team to compete...this version or 10 rebuilds or retools from now

47 shots and not one powerplay only to lose it on an iffy call when they just committed a much worse infraction for the second game in a row. Poor powerplay spread despite outplaying teams most of the season.

Team robbed of a winning goal in game 5 of the playoffs when the exact goal or worse has been allowed 100 times

I noticed it too. They were running interference all over the ice tonight.

Not sure what happened to my previous post, but I haven’t watched the game yet since I was coaching my son’s practice tonight, however Markstrom with an .848 save percentage is NG.

Is Markstrom struggling , team defense that bad, or a bit of both?

I think the refs didn't call the Cizikas hit on Markstrom because just earlier they missed Coleman's highstick on Romanov that would've probably been a 4 min double minor. The reffing was ass throughout the game though, lots of missed calls.

Sutters coaching continues to baffle me. There is no reason the 4th line should be playing so much. Back to back isn't an excuse he rode two defensive pairings tonight.

Huberdeau mentioned how playing on the PK helped him a lot last season because he wasn't sitting and getting cold it kept him in the game. What does Sutter do reduces his ice time and plays Ritchie Rooney and Lucic who should just be known a our top line now with the amount he puts them out.

That's why you have to be careful with Sutter and singing pluggers like that because he over plays them.

The team controlled the game but bad goaltending a 10 minute lapse and awful reffing cost us the point.

They NHL needs to hold officials accountable like the NBA does this is becoming too much they are ruining the game. Or I'm going to believe it's rigged and that's why they are not available to the media and to answer for their gaffes.

In the last two games - one that was very even, and one that was mostly dominated by the Flames, the power plays have been 7 to 2, including 2 soft PPs in OT. Absolutely atrocious reffing, and it has gotten to the point where I am strongly suspecting that the refs are pissed at Calgary for some reason, and are trying to prove a point. It's gone past ridiculous.

Didn't have an issue with the calls on the Flames.

Rooney's hold was a hold, but not a penalty vs what they let go to that point of the game. Ras made a dumb play and that's a penalty all day, every day and twice on Sunday.

Major issue with what wasn't called on the Isles. I can't personally tilt my head enough to figure out how not to call Kadri being dumped on the rush in the 2nd. They've called penalty shots for less than that.

How the hell do you not call Cizikas at the end of the game. That's basically a free penalty at that point. Seriously doubt the Isles say boo about that. I'd have to think that the ref down low was screened by the net, but can't really remember where he was. All of that notwithstanding, what the hell was the back ref looking at?!?!

Here's the kicker, the back ref for the Cizikas non call is the same ref who made the call on Ras.... Those two certainly weren't on the same page tonight. I didn't really think there were a bunch of penalties that needed calling tonight, but the calls vs the non-calls were as bad as I've seen this year. Just really sucks when all the tough calls seem to come your way.

TLDR; The Flames calls sucked in the context of what wasn't called on the Isles. Refs be better.
This. You cant call a game one way for 62 minutes then call that on Raz, if they had called Czikas earlier, different story.

Sidenote, that Isles crowd absolutely put the Dome crowd to shame. If the Dome sounded like that maybe the players would respond with a little more energy at home games. It sure seemed to help that Islanders team push in the third. They were rocking in there.

Calgary isn't a market they are looking to promote and doesn't have a face of the league type player

Then call the Kadri line the second line. Wih Darryl, you know he's going to roll them either way.

Also, the isles were garbage except for Barzal

Really disappointing our soon to be 10 million dollar guy is visible for 1 shift every 5 games. Gonna be a long 8 years if that continues to be the case. Huberdeau has to be injured to be this bleh.

Not going to say Markstrom played poorly, but the 3rd goal was weak, and for the OT goal, he wasn't in the middle of the net. If he makes the save on the 3rd one (as he should have), we wouldn't have needed OT.

The bottom line is that we were out-goaltended again.

Big picture: it was maybe the best game the Flames have played this year, and they deserved to win. I thought Huberdeau and Lindholm both played well.

Let's also keep in mind that they are basically playing with 4 defensemen, and each of the last two games have gone to OT. It's been a tough go, and they are playing well.
