He is not a uneducated “hick.”
It is possible for highly educated and respected doctors to disagree and offer facts that aren’t consistent with what has been expected throughout the medical landscape. Nobody has to agree, but his opinion shouldn’t be cancelled or disregarded just because it’s different than what was allowed throughout our world the past bit.
|
It is also possible for a highly educated and respected Doctor (or scientist) to be wrong. The scientific community is built on a foundation of peer review in order to prevent wrong opinions from experts becoming "real science".
His opinion isn't being "canceled" because of any personal grudges or what has been "allowed in the world". His opinion is disputed because countless other doctors have disproven his claims and the general community at large view a lot of his findings as inconsistent with the science.
This has nothing to do with "the narrative" or "different opinions", he has been wrong about a lot of things concerning Covid so why would anyone want him to advise them unless it was just to verify their preconceived notion.

There's nothing more hilarious than when anti vaxxers would shout from the rooftops that we shouldn't trust doctors and the rest of the medical community just because they're medical professionals...until they find one that pushes what they believe. "This man is a DOCTOR!!".

Who hasn’t got it at least once? No matter what people did to prevent getting it, I know very few who were successful. If you were that’s pretty amazing.
Even if it wasn’t other professionals first choice, herd immunity was reached partially due to natural immunity.
As for anyone who compares him to a doctor promoting cigarettes, what exactly is he selling? Big Pharmaceutical companies benefited majorly from doctors who promoted their products. Anyone who disagreed had everything to lose, not gain. Their reputation was stomped on and continues to be to this day. What did they gain?

We do not have herd immunity. What a ridiculous thing to say. Not wearing mask and ignoring the infection does not mean we have herd immunity. It means we have people acting like a herd.

No, my wife and I haven't got it yet, because we continue to follow the best advice we receive from actual experts, not ivermectin imbeciles.
As to the second part, herd immunity has not been achieved. Otherwise we wouldn't have wave after wave of covid "escaping immunity". Having everyone get infected early in the pandemic would have been insane, because covid was more deadly and less contagious at the time. You think hospitals had it rough as it was when a very small percentage of the population was infected? Go add "everyone" in and you can imagine how bad it would have been. All the experts agreed this was not a good idea at the time. It's probably still not a good idea now, given the unknowns around how covid is damaging the immune system, organs, and long covid.

I was infected by the first variant of it. Did I want it, no, but it happened to me as well as many others.

If only there was a controlled way to expose people to the virus so that their bodies would develop a resistance without serious risk of illness.

There is, Horse Dewormer! Just ask the MyPillow guy, I heard him telling me about it on InfoWars. But I had to do my own research to be sure, and Joe Rogan and Qanon totally backed him up.

It is worth repeating. Folks are down right entitled about health care.
"I want life saving treatment... but not THAT life saving treatment"
lets not forget that before the 1960s when you got sick, there was a really strong chance you would die.

Like what? vaccination? 100% of the population? Might work. Might not. We’ll never know. I don’t think it was ever a realistic expectation. Quit hanging your hat on it. Quit blaming others. It doesn’t help. I got vaccinated. I got sick. I’ll get sick again. It will continue

Getting sick is a natural part of life. I could give two ####s if anyone else gets vaccinated. I have family members and dear friends who are unvaccinated, and my opinion of them is unchanged. I love them still. They're wrong, and needlessly reckless, but I can only control myself and how I feel.
Quit projecting.

Well then you possibly saved the life of someone who needed that hospital bed. And it's likely the vaccine helped keep you out of there.
Vaccines work, and help alleviate pressure on the system we all use.
The more people vaccinated, the better off we, our community health, and our healthcare institutions are.

I 100% agree. My dad has cancer and has been lucky to not contract Covid. I got vaccinated to protect him. I don’t think it’s realistic to think there was a way to stop Covid. I also don’t blame people that didn’t get vaccinated for whatever reason. My point is, look out for yourself, and don’t be bothered by others decisions. And clearly our healthcare system needs a huge boost of people and money. Stay healthy and do what you can.

Wow, three years into this and there are still people that don't believe the vaccines and minor inconveniences helped us to avoid a catastrophic collapse of our healthcare system. The resulting complete shutdown of hospitals would have resulted in death and suffering like most have never seen.
At least we have a premier that believes this and won't let it get that way in the future. Oh wait. Come on Medicine Hat -Brooks, do the right thing tomorrow.
