Haha how is this guy melting down so bad on Twitter, for all to see?! Take a break, go do literally whatever you want to for a week or two since you have the resources. Just stop fighting online with random people. Sheesh.

Or fairness. Rule changes should be clearly communicated. Changing the rules on the fly and banning everyone who was violating your rule before you made it is like saying you declassified the documents with your brain before you stole them.
EDIT: But this is exactly the thing many expected with Twitter being taken private. Caprice. His fans are frothing with joy but he's doing the exact thing they accused Twitter of just a few weeks ago.

Imagine having a billion dollars.
Now multiple it by 44.
Then spend it all on Twitter.
Just insane. What an idiot.

Whats that revenue? What's the earnings report say....
GM has 25x the revenue, ignoring the fact they are in completely different industries apples to apples Twitter would be sitting at around 6100 employees
(I do accept your argument that a company with 5.1B in revenue should usually be able to carry 7500 employees, I'm just saying your comparison is not valid).
|
Yes but the point is he's in trouble because he paid 44 billion for it, it's not the staff's fault, not even the lack of income or the loses, none of these things is that big a deal, he happily carried Tesla under the same circumstances for years, the reason it's a problem is he borrowed 44 billion to buy it

A mass exodus from Twitter seems likely in the very near future. Elon's ####ed.

Sure but that’s kinda beside the point. Do you think this was a good acquisition?
My main point is that people struggle with big numbers and just how big they are. $44B is an absolutely insane risk to buy Twitter.
It was interesting to me seeing Musk post that tweet about the Starbucks coffee is $8 but people can’t rationalize spending $8 on Twitter. Well, can he rationalize the immensity and good he could have done with $44B spent more wisely in thousands of different areas? It’s wild to me.

Yeah, that's what I keep thinking too. He's bringing a lot more attention to the platform, and it's an attention economy. It's the most relevant Twitter has been since Trump got banned.
I don't really know what to make of it on the whole. He has made a big mess so far, and it's a huge risk to take on in terms of profitability, but it's a much more powerful platform than just buying WaPo like Bezos.
When Trump was running and in power Twitter was basically the source of info that shaped a lot of the political news across all other platforms and outlets every day, and now Elon has private ownership of that platform with Trump set to run again.
His other businesses have depended a lot upon government support and relationships for their growth and success. With Twitter he has a tool to influence discourse and policy to benefit Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and the Boring Company, potentially giving them a competitive advantage or policy protection going forward.
Also, it's also an enormous source of data to make use of, and he has the AI resources to make use of that data, in a company that is now privately held.
So, what did he really pay for, and what's the potential value of that extended out over the next decade for someone who owns numerous government-dependent businesses in what may be Trump's America?
