seeing the Kraken 7-4 and pens 4-6 you know the records are misleading so far .. next 4-6 weeks things will right themselves , including the Flames play
It’s subtle enough to make people sound conspiracy theorist until it’s obvious enough it isn’t.
The NHL is heavily biased against the Flames. I don’t know how people can miss it from everything from marketing to in-game and panel commentary to coverage to calls in the game. You name it, and it’s straight up ####ing embarrassing for a “professional” sports league that has now suddenly become obsessed with gambling advertising revenue.
Sorry, it’s just the way it is now, because we don’t have enough fans.

Oilers are -1 in penalty diff at home. They are in a four way tie for 19th for most favourable home penalty differential.
Don't let facts get in the way of a good story though.
Clearly the NHL is out to get the Flames by giving them 9 out of their first ten games at home.
Lol this guy just camps out waiting for someone to bad mouth the Oil. You may have missed the part where the Oilers are outplayed every game. Penalties shouldn't be anywhere near even.

If Darryl is benching guys, Backlund should be one of the last guys to go and Huberdeau, quite frankly, should be first.
I view backlund’s benching as motivational. The best Backs we see is when games are intense and he’s emotionally engaged. Backlund has been flat recently, and Sutter just sent him a hell of a message.
That being said, this entire “bench good players and play bad players because they skate hard” is an absolute sure fire path to the bottom of the standings and a great way to lose the dressing room.
I’ve seen enough of Lucic this season. He’s the #1 guy who should come out of the lineup (after Mackey).

Oilers get timely penalties when they need them , such as when trailing late . and its like clockwork . that has held true in rogers place for a long time
don't pretend that isn't true
& this home schedule works against a newly formed team more than anything and they have had to work against the grain with the calls as well as an elongated break while other teams played .. there's really been no advantage given here .

The thing is going to take time to come together. Not worried at all.
I think the adaptation period will be 25-30 games. Didn't help the flames to play so few games in October, but is what it is.
The system consists of a ton of switching both in coverage and in the o zone. That's why they're able to play fast and high pressure hockey. Clearly Huberdeau and Weegar and even Kadri aren't really used to it yet.
If I had my guess, Sutter blew up the lines because they were getting by with pp execution and natural skill. Probably pissed him off and he split them up as a weird lesson that their skills mean nothing to him if they're not playing as a unit.

I recognize that as an Oilers fan grasping basic concepts is exceptionally challenging, especially in the face of the insurmountable urge to respond to everything you read here with "RAH! RAH!! OILERSSSSSS!!!!"
But even you can surely see the problem here. The season started 23-days ago, and the Flames have played a total of 10 games. In that time they have had three two-day breaks and a three-day break. Since training camp began back in the third week of September the Flames have essentially not left Alberta. Hockey players thrive on routine, and this schedule has not been ideal for developing any, and it shows. It's quite different playing all your home games in October than it is in February.

FWIW, Flames were dominant with Backlund on the ice tonight. Outshot and outchanced NJ by a wide margin.
I agree, though — Lucic and Mackey just gotta go.

Oh yeah. Tonnes of home games and more time to practice is a massive disadvantage?
Come on. You pretend to be smarter than this.
