Sure list them.

Wondering on a key piece of the team that has off season surgery and shouldn't have started the season as per doctor's suggestion but the team played him in their first 7 games anyway.

Tough game. Jersey is looking good this year. Interesting game to see how the Flames come out.

We were lucky to have Tanev to be injury free last year. He has only played one full season of 82 games, so to see him injured again, is not an surprise to be honest. He play hard and sacrifices his body, it’s inevitable with him to be on the sidelines every so often. Prior to last season, the most games he ever played in a year was 70.

Zadorov needs to be better. He makes some good plays, but he has to cut out egregious errors that end up in the back of the Flames net, which has happened to many times the last few games.

Yeah this was a c9ncern about Tanev when we signed him. He got injured, a lot.

Really hurts losing him when we don't even have kylington available either. It's a real test of the depth on D at the moment and kind of shows why tree values the overloading of the position in previous years. Too bad we don't have a kid outside of Mackey really pushing things. Because Mackey really is just a warm body at this point.

I'm only guessing but I assume that Sutter has young defencemen on an even shorter leash than younger forwards.

I should clarify that it's not that I think they forced him, but that a player that's not ready convinces everyone he can play. It's happened countless times, but I'm sure it's not well documented as you won't find a lot of people willing to divulge.

Sheldon Souray in Edmonton is an obvious one where the team tried to force him to play, but I'm sure other people have plenty of examples where players played too soon before they were ready. It's not like being "ready to play" is a black and white issue. Ten doctors can disagree when someone is ready to play, and often a player and team can choose the doctor with the opinion they like most.

Not season starting injury, but we just saw the NFL do it with Tua Tagovailoa. It's a very common issue

Edit: here's one for Tyler Seguin from just last year

Hope Tanev heals up soon but with everyone talking about how deep we are on D, shouldn't be an issue. If Tanev is the difference maker for us then we're in more trouble than we think.

That’s kind of my point. There’s two ways to look at that, either the Flames are lucky or they play through more injuries. Once again, it is a NHL level problem but if the entire team and trainers knew that Monahan could barely walk he should have been shut down. Goes back to last trade deadline as well. His other hip wore out and he didn’t get shut down till he needed season ending surgery. Same story happened two years in a row.
The Flames didn’t force him to play but I think more over sight is needed with this in general

Apparently the devils are super fast and skilled team all the sudden?

Kylington being out also hurts

I have a good feeling about tonight. Flames need to end the homestand .500 and will want to bounce back after their last couple of games. Going back to the original lines I a a good call and I think we see some points from the top line tonight.

The way Jersey has been playing could be concerning though. Young, fast, dominating 5 on 5 to start the year. Might be an even worse version of the Buffalo game if this team is feeling down and comes out like they did against Seattle and Nashville.

I believe tonight is the start of a strong stretch and the Flames get the win

Devils have to regret lowballing Jesper Bratt and taking that all the way to an arbitration hearing. He’s going to cash in after this season.

Good drafting and high end picks. They've been due to breakout imo.

Canes may be thinking the same thing about Martin Necas.
Though they got him inked to 2 years. But dude is having an unreal start to his year.

Of all the current re-building teams now trying to make a step (Sens, Wings, Kings, Ducks, etc) the Devils is the one I like the most. Largely because Hughes/Hischier up the middle is going to be fantastic. But they have skill coming in almost every position.

Totally agree. I also really like Mercer and I think Zary is right on par with him. I hope Zary gets a real look this season.

OK but you responded to my post where I said it's hard to believe the Flames would force a core piece to play this early in a season against medical advice.

You said it happens all the time.

Then you say you don't think they forced him.

I think players say they're fine when they're not all the time for sure. But that's not on the team as much as looking the other way and putting players in danger.

I get why they did it but this is why I was against throwing Valimaki on waivers over Mackey.

I think Mackey would have cleared and Valimaki has done well in Arizona.

I get Mackey looked better in preseason but it wasn’t by much and Valimaki is younger with more pedigree and potential.

I’m happy Valimaki got out of this nightmare situation but disappointed we didn’t give him another shot.

Really it comes down to Tre signing Valimaki to a sizeable contract a couple years back.

I think you're right. I think they needed this lesson. Hopefully, they found out and we go on a 10-game streak like last time.
