You saying the Astros should have it wrapped up gives me great concern since you had this series over a few times already.
BTW what are you referring in the 4th inning and Verlander being bailed out in a huge way? There was a nice play on a weak chopper followed by two K’s. He was cruising at that point.
Anyway very glad he wasn’t pulled before he was. I can’t explain his WS record but he is a helluva pitcher.

lol I predicted it was over a total of one time, when Phillies won game 3 via blowout and looked unstoppable.
I'm not predicting anything now. I'm just saying Houston should be able to wrap this up in 6 considering they have the momentum, the better pitching, and are heading back to their ballpark.
As for what will actually happen, I don't have a clue.
As for JV, he allowed 7 batters to reach base in the first 3 innings, then needed his defense to make a really nice play to prevent him from getting into huge trouble in the 4th.

I know about your prediction and that’s why I told you it was an overreaction to one game. And honestly I still don’t know what you are referring to in the 4th. A weak chopper and two K’s. What was the “huge” trouble, a possible runner on first if Peña makes an error?
Who knows what might have happened but JV pitched an effective game and pitched himself out of trouble. Had they taken him out earlier could well be looking at a different result. So I’ll stand by calling it a beauty, especially under the circumstances.
This series simply couldn’t not be closer than it is though and I don’t see momentum as a huge factor. Phillies starting to get some good swings on Pressley. Valdez is a great pitcher but he can get wild and can lose focus on occasion.
Third time in four years the WS will be won at MMP. Different team each time.

I still don’t know what you’re talking about with the two runners on thing. Could you explain that? A weak ground out and two K’s is what happened in the 4th.
Yeah I thought it was a really good outing under the circumstances and I really didn’t think calling it a beauty was laughable. It was certainly what I had hoped for let’s put it that way.
Honestly what’s laughable is thinking the series was over after one team had a 2-1 lead. But I’m just giving you a hard time for that as it’s easy to get caught up in the moment. I’m sure no one else really cares for this back and forth, Im just enjoying bickering over some of the overreactions.

Hmm, I may have been mistaken on the innings. It may have been the 3rd that I was thinking of rather than the 4th. He had a poor first 3 innings but really settled down and pitched well in the last 2. So if you wanted to make the case that his last 2 innings were beauties I'd grant you that, but the first 3 were rough.
You're right, pretty much no one besides us is in here reading this thread, and I deserve to be bantered for my over the top reaction after game 3. Cheers.

Some numbers for you:
Phillies have struck out 59 times in 5 games. That's a WS record through 5 games.
Astros bullpen has 5 earned runs through 51 and 2/3 innings in the playoffs. No bullpen has had an ERA under 1 in over 50 innings.
Does that continue or were there some cracks emerging in Montero and Pressley in game 5?

They’re saying Gurriel is out. And maybe right off the roster. If so, I bet they add a catcher which would allow Vazquez to DH.

Catcher Korey Lee will replace Gurriel on the roster, allowing Christian Vazquez to be the designated hitter in Game 6 on Saturday night. Houston will carry three catchers for the final two games, giving the Astros more lineup flexibility.

Alvarado picks the worst time of year to revert back to a pumpkin after being lights out for months. Cost them game four and now this one.

Also some textbook overmanaging. Wheeler is your ace, on 68 pitches. If you can't trust him in that spot...

Mistake to take out Wheeler for Alvarado. Only 70 pitches and the first sign of trouble. Lefties mean nothing to Alvarez.

Your trivia for today, the Phillies have been around since 1890, they've never played a Game 7
