Oh right - this would be 'on the ice for goals', not goals that the individual has scored. My bad.

I thought my optimism was at an all time low and then saw no Tanev and discovered that there was indeed more room in the 'optimism basement.'

Thank goodness Sutter went back to the previous line combos. I expect a much better Flames team tonight.

Hopefully it's not the same shoulder that was operated on in the off season. Would hate for Tanev to be out long term.

If it is then another fail on the Flames. He should have sat out longer. I’m glad Lucic is off the the second line.

Not sure any of us know enough about the situation to call it a fail even if it's the same shoulder.

Seems silly to me.

I don’t know. Maybe it was all on Monahan but hindsight looks like he should have been shut down multiple times before his body gave up.

But why would a sports team force a player to start the season hurt and not ready when it's 82 games and the team is expected to make the playoffs.

Doesn't make a lick of sense.

Tanev was greenlit by surgeons and doctors and he played.

But it is always impossible to speculate. To say nothing of the fact that most of us on the sidelines are not qualified to give anyone medical advice, no one is, without ever speaking to the patient.

I tend to think that unless players complain about their medical treatment—which is actually something that happens from time to time—then there is nothing to see here.

Seems that Tanev is made of glass. Unfortunate, as he's the glue that holds that entire D core together. Hopefully he's back soon.
Anyway, I just want to see the team get back to playing the way we know they can. 2 points would be wonderful.

I don't mean to be facetious here, but there's an awwwwwful lot of examples where this happened

I don’t think it is a Flames specific problem. Just the whole culture of playing through injuries. I mean there is only so much the team can do if the player doesn’t reach out for help but at some point trainers need to step in.
The following should not have happened.

If the Flames move their feet like they have the past two games the Devils will have them two laps down by the end of the first.
Back to the lines that started 5-1, hope that's enough to get these guys going.

Devils are playing very well on the road and coming In hot.
Calgary needs to play fundamentally sound hockey and stop the turnovers and penalties.

guys get hurt, some of you just love to blame the Flames for everything

Flames have had the fewest injuries of any team in the league the last few years
