I'm nearly convinced there are a couple of first-gen AI bots masquerading as actual posters. The lack of human empathy, discussion tact, and general right-wing gibberish give me reasons to have questions. Lots of them.

Well this is terrifying. The UCP is being taken over by right wing extremists.

Candidates endorsed by a populist group focused on personal liberty and freedom that has ties to the protests that earlier this year blocked the U.S.-Canada border swept the recent election for the board of Alberta’s governing United Conservative Party.


Take Back Alberta claims to have sent hundreds of people to the UCP annual general meeting last month and endorsed all nine candidates who were elected, including some who are members of the group. The group’s leader said the board elections are part of a longer-term plan to wield power over democratic institutions, including UCP constituency boards and riding-level nomination battles, ahead of next year’s provincial election.

“We have all received certain God-given rights, among which are life, liberty, personal autonomy, the pursuit of happiness, the right to assemble, and the right to worship publicly,” Mr. Van Hierden said in his pitch. “Those rights are inalienable – meaning they may never be surrendered, since they are given to us by God, not by man.”

Now she’s the new UCP director for central Alberta. She does not believe the board is there to direct Ms. Smith, but to keep her in check.


“I see the board as keeping her accountable,” Ms. Schimke said in an interview. “We want to make sure she’s doing what we want.”

that's why it sucks that even on this board there are people who know what the UCP is, and still say they can never vote for Notley and the NDP.
How can they keep that position? I don't understand it, unless they are a believer of this crap and don't want to admit it.

What's worse is the thousands of voters who don't read the news or engage and won't have a clue. Just NDP bad, Conservative good.

Most informed people I speak with are going NDP, but the uninformed either won't bother to vote or will vote to their ingrained bias.

Alberta reminds me more and more of Oregon, where there's an urban population of mostly average people, and then the rural population is irredeemably insane.

Very different needs and opinions yes. Very highly doubt anyone is paying money for bots on a hockey forum with an off topic forum that has an Alberta politics thread.

While I never expected so many NDP supporters, I see you are all very much alive and well.

Can’t say I haven’t thought the same though in other forums where the majority are like minded and a few have differing opinions.

I personally am glad to see Saskatchewan come up with their Saskatchewan first proposal as well. I’m sure many will disagree.

The UCP was extremist at it’s conception. There is nothing redeeming in it. Any member with a heart should have distanced themselves rather than remaining.

In one video, posted a year ago, she compared vaccine requirements to Nazi Germany, where an estimated six million Jewish people were killed in the Holocaust.

“You may think that this is an extreme comparison, but it really is not,” she says in the video. “The Germans didn’t initially come out and say: ‘If you’re Jewish, over on this side. If you’re German, on this side.’ It was: ‘Papers, please.’”

No I was not addressed directly, however the poster basically said they wondered if anyone who posted against the grain was a bot?

If you look back through this thread there has been plenty of UCP distaste. However plenty of comments that say things that support the thought that the poster would vote NDP. Many who have flat out stated that that’s where their intention to vote is.

What would you prefer to be besides alive and well? I’m quite happy being alive and well. I’m sorry you are offended by such comment.

The conversation has had plenty of Danielle Smith bashing due to her Sovereignty act. How is making a reference to Saskatchewans version of the same thing and my support of it not relevant to this thread? It simply states that while many of you oppose it, and think she is crazy for it, she is not alone now in wanting more sovereignty for an individual province. I hadn’t seen any discussion on it. I know this isn’t a Saskatchewan Politics thread, but with relation to current Alberta politics it is very relevant.
