I also have roots there. Most people I know there are fans of other teams, especially the Habs. The Sens are second choice.

Depends on age. With the older demographic for sure, cause they were a new team with anyone over 40, but if they can market and compete properly they can capture fans in the 20-40 range.

I disagree. Doesn't have to be a billionaire from Ottawa although there are some seriously wealthy folks there from tech.
It's probably going to be a more modern cap table similar to the Warriors. I can see a group of wealthy Canadians that may not all be in Canada or private equity. Or a combo. And I can think of one fellow off the top of my head based here that could write the cheque himself or would happily be part of a consortium.
Separately but a bit related, back when the sens were a basket case in the 90's, I was involved in a potential sale to a fund that was going to use the dire financials as an accelerated tax write-off. There was lots of interest.
Add in the fact Bettman hates moving teams.
Snowballs chance the Sens move.

The other two NHL teams in Eastern Canada are out of reach for the 'average billionaire'. I think there will be plenty of interest, and it definitely doesn't have to be local to Ottawa.

If an expansion team costs $600M, you gotta think an existing team with marketable stars (Stutzle, Tkachuk) would be worth at least that and more.
Not sure how someone worth a few hundred million could even be considered. Who will cover inevitable losses as the club finances rise and fall with team performance? Ottawa ain't exactly a cash cow.

I know I'm nitpicking here but Ottawa is a distant 6th biggest city.
Calgary and Edmonton are your 4th and 5th respectively
