Its just part of his endless campaign to make Stephen King look cheap.

Yesterday, Mr. Manning held a news conference in Ottawa to propose a “national citizens’ inquiry” to take an “independent” look into the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the while observing “the highest evidentiary standards,” of course.

Can someone roll Preston into a retirement home that doesn't have access to communications please? He's done more damage to Conservatism in Canada than anyone. Just stop already. Please.

Citizen's inquiry, like the same kind of people that sat at that dumb press conference table during the dumb convoy, and proclaimed they are the dumb representatives to negotiate with the feds? That level of credibility?
Dumb, dumb, dumb.

It's typical garbage from morons. When you actually go to the ridiculous site, you are greeted with this:
Quote:
3-out-4 Canadians Report Experiencing Harm Due to Government COVID-19 Policies
The NCI recently polled Canadians (n = 1,533) and learned that 3-out-of-4 Canadians report having suffered harm as a result of our governments’ COVID-19 policies. You can review our research for yourself below.
Key Discoveries
- The consequences of isolation was the greatest harm inflicted on Canadians by government C-19 policies (25%; e.g., being prohibited from attending funerals, visiting sick or loved ones, learning impacts on children and students of all ages, increased divorce and tension in the home)
- Economic and health consequences were also reported as significant harms
- Canadians also reported infringements of constitutional rights and freedoms as a major source of harm
- Only 1-in-4 Canadians did not report having suffered harm as a result of government C-19 policies
|
Sounds pretty serious, right? Except when you actually read the survey and questions, not one of them refers to government policies. Thy polled people on "Impact of the Pandemic Experience for Canadians", not on government policy impact. So they've taken survey results about pandemic impacts and applied them to government policy impacts. It's manufactured nonsense. But of course the rubes have already started donating. And there's Preston, cheer leading the lie.

Not that I agree with the morons, but the government did make all the policies during the pandemic did they not?

A lot were brought by provincial CMOH. But if you look at the individual categories, like "health", you can't untangle govenrment policy protecting the healthcare system from "healthcare waiting times" becuase obviously the pandemic was the cause of it, not direct govenrment polices. What would wait times be like with no interventions? Which is the same in the other categories, to some degree. The issue is that these people imagine a pandemic passing buy with no affect at all on anything, and the only negatives are brought about by government policy, which is how they are misrepresenting reality. That, and straight up misrepresenting what the questions and answers to the survey are.

No. While government policies definitely made up to majority of the ones that directly affected people, a number of private businesses made their own policies and some continue to enforce those policies even in the absence of mandates.

Sounds like some serious Frasier Institute level of analysis was happening here.

He simply has to go away. His "best by date" has long passed.
