That's about the number we had. I felt like it took a while to get going, but by 7 it was a mad rush and we were out of candy in less than 45 mins. Best costume was a Dad wearing an absolutely stellar Boba Fett costume, and the kid in a Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man man inflatable suit. Great stuff.

I love Halloween. What a perfect holiday for the kids. Their excitement is contagious I just love watching them have pure innocent fun. Mahogany was jam packed last night with kids. I went trick or treating with the kids so we just threw the bowl out with a sign.

Also crossposting this from the Ukraine thread because it's great.

They moved to Calgary from Ukraine 2 weeks ago. She was very excited for Halloween, and her dad watched YouTube videos to see how it worked. We saw her first trick or treat and she was very excited at the successful acquisition of candy. She had no bag, so her dad grabbed her a plastic one at some point from the gas station, which she soon filled. I ran home and grabbed a reusable grocery bag, she filled that sucker with candy acquired with her few newfound English words. She would forget what to say here and there and ask her dad, but she was super brave running up to all of the houses, it was awesome, and cool to see a kid ripped away from friends, family and home just all smiles.

Anyway, we're frigging lucky. If anyone knows someone in need of a real estate or wedding photographer, the dad is looking for work and I grabbed his number.

That's nice. Our Ukrainian family loved it too. This is a text I received from them last night.

"OMG, this Halloween changed our attitude to this holiday. In our bars and clubs we didn't have this atmosphere. In Canada it's really like Christmas eve, magical. We so happy the kids had fun! they were so excited running to house, Magical! People in our area even offer shots and cocktails, we didn't expect that. We love this holiday".

Yes, they were with us for 3 weeks. The changed our lives forever. It was a great experience. We are so grateful they are here safe, away from the war, and grateful to have them in our lives.

Quiet year in Lethbridge. Only 24 down here. I think that every parent that was with their child was dressed up this year though, so that was fun to see

No way man! The Dentist lobby would never allow it! They want as much sugar and pop going through those kids as humanly possible to rot their teeth!

It keeps that Dental Insurance Gravy Train a-chuggin' along.

Less than 10 kids this year, might be due to about 1/2 the houses on the street not participating in handing out candy at all so why bother if you are a kid. My mom (older street in a small town) had 2 kids. Sister (Montreal) bought enough for 400 and ran out!

300+ this year. It was non stop.

We left chips out on a table with a sign to take one. Two trips back to restock. Checking the doorbell camera there was only a few cases of kids taking multiple and they were my son's idiot classmates.

Decorations were a blast and the jump scare scarecrow we had out front worked a few times.

We meandered through the neighborhood and ended up at a bonfire. Someone also had the coolest garage bar set up with old time hockey pictures, games and a giant tub of adult beverages for the parents. One house had some amazing animatronics. It put my house to shame. I am already planning for next year what I am going to add.

What a fun night it was.

What will it take for us to collectively proclaim Halloween to be the last Saturday in October?

We must unite.

We cant even Unite to decide on the time.

I propose we simply task The Vatican to determine when Halloween is and we call it a day.

We should do what we did with Thanksgiving and move Halloween a month earlier than the US. Would be much more enjoyable to be walking the streets in the evening on Sept 30 than Oct 31

September 30 is already a holiday unfortunately. Taking that away would be impossible.
