It sounds like it is more about figuring out who received contracts to contribute to the app development and how much of the $54 million went to Liberal friends and insiders as a government handout.

He called it ArriveScam to show how clever he is.

Well for starters, that some of the people that the Government said they paid have come forward and said they had nothing to do with it nor received any money.

So....where did the money really go?

I know that fiscal prudence in our lifetimes is essentially dead but that doesnt necessarily mean that we should just blindly allow the Government, any Government, to go around just openly stealing.

ArriveCan aside, this Liberal Government has to be the most fiscally opaque Government this country has ever seen. Money seems to go missing rather frequently.

And frankly, you're right. $54M is a small burger at the cafeteria, so why bother taking it? Maybe because its the tip of the iceberg?

Poilievre being an idiot aside, a little bit of financial transparency isnt a bad thing and for the Opposition to ask the Government 'Where did the money go?' shouldnt be unreasonable nor generate such a vitriolic reaction even from someone as blatantly partisan as some posters.

- Government spent money
- People alleged to have received it deny it
- Opposition asks where did the money go?
- Posters: Milhouse is a MORON! Who cares where the money went.

Brilliant stuff.

OK, well that sounds weird, I hadn't heard that. But wouldn't that be a responsibility of bureaucrats administering it? It can't be that hard to trace how a payment was made from what fund to who.

What? You thought it was just "The ArriveCan App was a waste of money!" ?

No.

The Government released a list of companies paid to design and deliver it and a few of them came back saying that they had nothing to do with it and never received any money.

Its kind of the oppositions job to take the Government to task over little things like this regardless of people's personal feelings towards Poilievre.

Microsoft, not ThinkOn, received $1.2-million contract for work on ArriveCan app, border agency says

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/poli...t-for-work-on/

The Canada Border Services Agency has revealed that it was Microsoft, not ThinkOn, that received a $1.2-million contract related to the ArriveCan app, but the agency says it will take until next week before it can announce the results of its full review of related contracts.

The CBSA confirmed the recipient of the $1.2-million in contract work late Wednesday, a few hours after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was unable to clarify the matter during Question Period.

It was probably some intern's fault.

Some of us thought the tweet was funny because Polievre is trying to make it look like he’s doing something groundbreaking instead of just doing his job. Considering you’re aware that it’s his job, don’t you see that humorous angle?

So you mean to say Trudeau didn't personally pull the money from a government cash register and drive door to door to his supporters with briefcases full of money? Why not wait fro CBSA to finish their work on this before bringing it to the HoC?

I guess we'll never know because if anyone even dares question Fearless Leader they are worthy only of derision and mockery.

I mean, its not like the Liberals have misplaced funds before or ever even thought about anything shady or scandalous. Not them!

May as well dissolve the official opposition.

The Canadian electorate, in a nutshell.

That's the problem with portraying yourself as a moron, when it comes time to do serious work, no one takes you seriously.

I totally agree that it was the right motion (still not sure why we needed one in committee and one in the House), but the whole edgy "ArriveScam" is just as cringy as "Justinflation".

I don't remember what quips were thrown at Harper like this (but I am sure there was something) but IMO it just takes away from his position and makes him look like a fool grasping at a soundbite instead of the Leader of the Opposition making a valid motion and argument.

They're also headquartered practically right next door to each other!

You're not going to get an argument from me there. I get that, but at the same time at least the Official Opposition is actually still doing its job.

At least as well as that collection of clowns can.

Whatever else you want to say about Poilievre, when it came to being a fiscal attack dog, that was his bread and butter.

Its the perfect storm. Poilievre is a Moron but Trudeau and Co just cant help themselves at the cookie jar.

Makes one wonder how effective of a leader PP would be if the thing you consider to be his bread and butter appears to have had little to no impact on anything.
