Don't succumb to this temptation, Brad.

4x4!...I doubt anybody thought that, in fact we had a thread and trust me the guesses were MUCH lower

as for Lucic he could 100% snag a multi (2 year) deal if he is willing to go to the highest bidder. I would give him 1x1.5M or 2 at league min.

I bet all this is just BS though, there is no rush for the Flames unless its a bargain (league min)

The rumour is also coming from Pagnota who just throws garbage at the wall. He also had Kadri to the Isles as a done deal that needed to be filed, and Huberdeau being flipped 2 minutes after the trade.

For league minimum, sure go for it. You can't overpay these bottom line guys though.

I never said give him a 3 year deal, just that he could probably get better than people think on the open market. 1-2 years around league min is what I would personally do

Flames would have given Bergeron a 4 or 5 year deal if we are being honest, other teams would have done the same
Also at least 3 of these guys just got bought out and are still getting $3-4 million from their previous teams. Bergeron and Krejci both came back specifically to Boston to try and win one more cup.

If Lucic didn't have the intangibles, I wonder what his declining skillset would be worth on the open market if Calgary wasn't interested? Even considering the assets he brings, I think the Flames are bidding against themselves here

One goal in his last 60 or whatever games? Realistically a 5-goal guy at best at this point, especially when taking into account his 5 hole seeing eye shots predictably drying up after his fast start last year

35+ and 3-5 goals a year potential

Are we really talking about this?

False. The Looch cheer is like the Jaws theme. It frighten opponents into fearing Looch is coming.

The crowd should do it even when he's not coming.

Just some website looking to catchup on some clicks.

"Internal Flames discussions" are the last things that make it out of the building, let alone to clickbait rumor sites.

At best, it's someone looking to cuddle up to Lucic's agent by throwing a fluff piece out there for this player, for future insider goodwill from said agent.

It's basically the only thing fans do at a game besides cheer when a goal is scored.

Maybe a one year deal pending on how the season transpires. If he can get 25-30 points sure. Other than that, thanks for what has been.

Me either. Brad will evaluate at the conclusion of the season as you should with a player of this calibre and age.

The last time Lucic got more than 23 points was 5 years ago.

He won’t hit 25+ playing on the 4th line.

Even if real, it's not actually a thing.

‘Evaluating possible Lucic extension’? Every team does that with every player in a contract year. If a GM isn't asking himself and his staff, ‘Do we want to re-sign this guy?’ he's not doing his job. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it's no. Most times it depends on the price.

The story specifically says there have been no negotiations. So all we can possibly have here is a management team asking themselves the questions they are supposed to ask.

Honestly, this is a nothingburger soused in weaksauce. If the headline had been, ‘Flames may or may not want to re-sign Lucic’, nobody would read it; in fact, the story would probably have been spiked. But if you phrase it in a clickbait-y way, you get people arguing over a non-story.

Yeah, somehow there are pages of people saying “it better not be multi-year!!”….. like, wtf would it be multi-year? Of course almost every player wants a multi year deal. That doesn’t mean it’s happening. Or even being considered by any team.
