crap. 1st responders are saying that when they got to the front of the scene it was like 10 rows of human faces stacked up staring back at them. no arms or hands and no one could speak.

As soon as I saw the headline without knowing where in Seoul it took place, my mind automatically went to the exact spot in Itaewon where it occurred. So many bars and pubs lined along a few narrow, bricked-in streets. I was there probably one of the last nights before COVID shut everything down, it was February and freezing and yet still crowded. I can think of a few other places in the world prone to parties along narrow streets and alleys (Lisbon, Melbourne) where this could happen if conditions were ripe. My heart breaks for all these young people in Seoul, I'm relieved that my friends there were all out of harm's way.
