Are we still pretending CBJ was Gaudreau's first choice?

Not sure who you are referring to but there is no way I have ever believed that and we heard the CBJs basically admit that they came to them after JG didn't get the offers he was expecting out of NJ or Philly, I think mainly Philly though.

So yeah he didn't chose to go there to make his wife happy...his plan blew up in his face and now he plays on a #### team for his prime. Deep down he regrets it IMO.

IMO He chose anywhere but Calgary for his wife... not specifically Columbus
I'm just not sure what it matters
He wanted to be here. Wasn't enough to make it happen. Life goes on

I don't want Gaudreau to win anything either, but can we please stop talking about his wife in yet another thread? It hasn't gotten any less cringy.

See, I read this as an insinuation on your part that Gaudreau is "scared to put 'you' first," or that he "gives in on everything." Maybe he does, but maybe he has also just made the best decision for his family and long-term happiness. Who is any one of us to say? It's his life.

Oh boo hoo. It's twitter. I mean if they posted it on newjerseydevils.com that would be a different story. Course that would be pretty funny too.

Well, that is just not true. Another poster who is close to the Gaudreaus has said that leaving Calgary was NOT what she wanted. So, let's stop pinning how everything went down on her.

I mean, technically he's not wrong.
There isn't one single aspect of anything on this planet, or even the planet itself, that doesn't have some type of spoil timer embedded within its code. Doesn't matter which planet, system or galaxy.
Literally the only constant within the entire universe is decay.

I think the hate on Johnny would have been quite a bit less had he signed with the Devils. It is his home state where he has an offseason home, they are a team with young talent and good prospects. When he went with Columbus it didn’t sit right for many Flames fans who would have understood the Devils or Flyers. Losing to Columbus for less money and not being super close to home was a weird choice.
I really enjoy seeing the Jackets be no good and hopefully they bury themselves early only to go on a late run to draft 12th overall.

1000%! I would have no ill will towards him if he actually went home! not to some craphole town and team a thousand miles away from home.

Big Z towards the end of last season into the playoffs was better and Gudbranson. Doesn't matter now. Stone looks like a brand new player this year.

So Johnny, how does it feel knowing that you made the worst decision of your career?

I tend to defend fans who lose their cool during a game and take losses hard. Sports fandom is about passion and irrationality.
But if months later you’re still obsessing over how far Columbus is from his parents or talking about his wife or spewing this nonsense, it’s embarrassing.

40% of first marriages end in divorce, in Canada. Not 50%+
