He's gonna get some Hart votes this year, now that he's out East and 80% of the NHL media will be able to actually watch him play.

He's got a competitive edge but wasn't the team player we needed. I have the feeling that at the end of the day, this will turn out to be one of those win-win trades like Iginla for Nieuwendyk.
Except this time we got the vet(s).

Two of Tkachuk’s goals have been empty-netters, but they count all the same.
They also moved him up to the top line with Barkov and Verhaeghe so he’ll get some help putting up points (Barkov finally got his first goal today). Sam Bennett now gets the ice cold Sam Reinhart on his line.

I'm curios to see how Chucky goes in the playoffs. I love him, but he wasn't great in the Edmonton series.

And they have the easiest strength of schedule in the league
I keep harping on it but Florida plays Two playoff teams from last season in their first 12 games....in a league were half the teams make the playoffs that is pretty crazy. You can't start talking about points pace until at least December IMO
He has been doing well for sure but it's certainly easier to put up points against bad and mediocre teams.

Years ago I think it was Dale Hawechucks dad who said he would rather rather watch the Oilers practice than watch a Sabres game after Dale had been traded to the Sabres.
Guy Gaudreau might be thinking that he's falling asleep a lot more watching the Jackets ay during day hours than those late nights watching last years Flames.

Then he goes to a system without that structure or Lindholm there to back him up and yeah his warts show a bit more now. Anyway I think Tkachuk can do well and is doing mostly fine. I don’t know if that team will ever do much because they’ve traded so many futures. But Johnny I can confidently say is doomed to years of obscure 90 point seasons. Maybe he’s the new Marcel Dionne.

Gaudreau in the right situation can be an excellent checker and defensive player. I think it was Darryl last season who called Gaudreau the best checker on the team and I agree to a certain extent. Maybe I’d have Lindholm at the top with Gaudreau a close second, but regardless, it was close.
Gaudreau might not be great defensively in the prototypical way one would expect, he obviously has his issues along the boards and can be soft at times and miss an assignment or two. But he was spectacular back checker last season and has a sneaky good stick check that I don’t think many appreciated enough. I know for myself, I definitely miss his exploits on our top line, especially with how rudderless our current top line has looked.
But yeah, I’m with you on one thing. He chose a bad team that just started their rebuild. I do wonder if he ultimately feels some regret not making his career the priority like other hocker players who value winning and fit first and foremost. It can’t be fun being the #1 guy the media goes to everyday asking why your team lost yet another game for years to come.

I have no ill will towards Johnny, but I must admit I enjoyed watching that.

Sutter said he was a good checker, he didn't say he was good defensively.

Was a bit surprised to see the Devils fans booing him. I guess they feel he snubbed them. And I guess he did.
None the less, he is the best player ever to come out of NJ

Ask Tom Brady. As long as the wife is happy it's the right move. Life is bigger than the game.

Well that's the point. Tom chose the game. Johnny chose what was best for his family. I doubt he's regretting anything at this point as he got his long term contract and goes home to a happy wife.

Ol Tom will get over it. More to life than being married, which is a temporary arrangement anyways

I guess it's not for everyone, but some of us actually like being married, and have been pretty happy for a long time.

I was too. Happy until I wasn't, moved on. 50%+ end in divorce, lots more seperated or unhappy. Probably like a 15% chance at a happy ending. Point is Tom will be just fine. Sometimes you got to put you first. If you're scared to do that or give in on everything, probably not going to be part of the 15% club anyway
