They actually played a much better game here than against the hurricanes or penguins, but get the regulation loss for their efforts. What a sport.

Huberdeau’s definitely not playing like a $10 mil player, Lindholm had one of his better games this season but still not good enough. Thought Toffoli did well.

Weegar is my favourite part of the Tkachuk trade so far. He is a very good defender.

It will probably matter in the playoffs.

We now need to see what Vladar can do, because Markstrom isn’t getting us past them in the playoffs no matter how much better we are than them.

Highly unlikely Vader lets in the TSN turning point goal like that.

we don't make any roster changes just because we lost to the nhl's sweethearts. It wasn't a fair matchup. refs call it properly and we win handedly every time. Oilers can't win without some kind of an advantage. I don't understand why they get mcdavid after having gretz and 4 cups with him, the hockey gods lways reward them yet the flames have to work for every inch. We are better team because of it, let them celebrate undeserved wins, when we finally get another cup it will be because we fought for it and won.

I don't think it's that he has the yips against the Oilers. He struggles with blocking dump ins and got burnt for it finally. That could have happened against any team. He needs to know when it's not a good time to do it.

I sucked at playing the puck so I only did it when I knew I was safe.

I mean lets be honest here. If Vlader starts game 3 we most likely beat the Oilers last year.

Does he make all the other saves? It's impossible to say

Two goals isn't enough to put the whole game on the goalie

No one in particular. Just tired of Markstrom ####ting the bed against the Oilers. And more tired of hearing the excuses. Markstrom sucks against the Oilers. For whatever reason. We don’t know. But it’s truth. It was refreshing when Sutter started Vladar and they won. I like winning better than losing. And if that means starting Vladar against the Oilers we should celebrate that. I guess that’s because I’m a massive baseball fan and matchups mean something.

we won't face the oil in the playoffs this year, it's rare, they only played us because they got la instead of dallas.

I think they should try:

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Dube-Kadri-Toffoli

But like I said in the game thread maybe he lets in one of the big saves Markstrom did make.

Saying Vladar doesn't try to play the puck so the likelihood of that going in is low is fair. Saying they would have easily won had he started is another thing.

One thing I have noticed a fair bit this year, and it was really prevalent tonight, is the Flames aren't quick enough to get the puck to the front of the net, nor do they do it often enough. It's always around the boards, or back to the point.

Guys were open in front multiple times, but no one was looking to get the puck to them quickly enough

It’s psychological. Markstrom didn’t have to do much to win that game and he just choked

He can’t beat the Oilers period. It happens a lot in sports

I mean he has never been THE guy, always played behind Barkov. The expectations were totally off here when he got signed. Not that he isn't a really good player but he doesn't drive a line like Gaudreau.

The more I listen to Weegar in this interview, the happier I am that the Flames signed him to that contract. Happy to cheer for a guy like that

Bottom line dating back to last years series is that the Oilers have gotten more out of their top guys than the Flames at key moments. 1st line generated nothing at even strength tonight.

I think the Flames clearly have a better team game than the Oilers, but you need the top guys to be game breakers.
