Back to back 50 goal seasons too. He was great a handful of years

That's also who came to my mind after reading the OP.

Deadly on the PP, quick hands in close, great deflections.

Big frame for screening the goalie and creating havoc in front of the net.

He was a force.

Some great flashbacks in here. Nice to see some old balls like myself.

Seeing as someone already gave the greatest flow in Duguay I’ll go with the second best moustache ever. Harold Snepts. Solid D-man.

David Babych was as solid a defenseman as you'd ever want.

Al Secord could score and beat you up.

Brad McCrimmon was a MONSTER on defence.

Peter Bondra played a long time for Capitals teams who were good, but often didn't have much playoff success. One of the top goal scorers of the 96 to 2002 dead puck era he finished with 503 goals in 1081 career games. Was Cy Young worthy with his 34 goals and 9 assists in the 95 season which was the top goal total.

Dennis Maruk
Scored 60 goals once, and had a point per game career
Only 21 players have hit 60 goals in a season. Maruk is probably the most anonymous

Oh man, this is a game I want to play multiple times.

I’ll name Walt Poddubny. Not exactly a physical specimen, but scored 116 goals
over a 3 year stretch in the 80s that helped me win one hockey pool.

How long do I have to wait until I can name another?

Denis Maruk. 878 points in 888 games including a 60 goal 136 point season for the sad sack Caps.

The Bondra/Pivonka combination was really great back in the day. Both of them could probably be mentioned in this thread.

Ryan Walter was a really solid two-way winger on some fearsome Montreal teams. He was overshadowed offensively by the likes of Naslund and Richer, and defensively by Carbonneau, but he could do it all. I remember he was always a factor in those Flames-Habs games back in the 80s. And before that, in Washington, he was (at that time) the youngest team captain in NHL history.

The people who knew the game best knew Walter's value. Bobby Clarke once said: ‘When you play against Ryan Walter, you know you're in for a night's work.’

Excluding recent retired players who will be HHOFers, Pierre Turgeon is probably the best player who is not and maybe never will get in. Had more career points than Iggy

Ziggy Palffy
He was an exciting player in the mid 90's to early 00's, career cut short by injuries. After his first few seasons it seemed like he was always injured.

713 points in 684 games in the dead puck era. 48 goals and 90 points in 96-97. 38 goals and 89 points in 00-01 with only 73 games played.

Sacrilege I know, but the proto-agitator Ken Linseman.

This guy defined the player everyone hated, but would love to have on their team. He basically invented the role of troll. But the guy could score. He was the Marchand of the 80's. My dad would go into fits of rage from his antics when he was with the Oilers during the 80's BOA.

807 pts in 860 games along with 1727 PIMS.

I will admit, I loved the guy when he was a Bruin.

Marc Tardiff. One of the most gifted players I've seen. I wonder what he would have done in the NHL had he not been sidetracked by the WHA in his prime years.

Another great Nordique was Michel Goulet. Just a guy with a nack for finding the back of the net.

I was thinking of Michel Goulet as well. He was big at the time, but seems to be left out of the conversation nowadays.

Looking at the Caps of the 80s and 90s because of the Bondra and Pivonka mentions, Mike Ridley is another guy that flies under the radar. I guess that is what playing for a lame duck team does to someone's legacy.

Ray Whitney - the wizard

1,064 points in 1,330 games played with 8 different teams. For whatever reason he moved around a lot, but was seemingly productive everywhere
