The Flames have 8 division championships and Oilers have only 7, with the last one coming in 1987.

(35 years ago for those keeping score)

Got into it with an Oiler fan acquaintance of mine today. He Said the Flames have only played one starting goalie this year (true or not irrelevant) thats why they're off to the hot start...

...The look on his face when I helped him realize his logic in which that 1 starter was Jack Campbell was fantastic.

McDavid's back is messed up and they are still playing him tonight. With how much ice time he logs and how they have to put him out there no matter what he will be half the player he is now by 30.

By the time he's 30, he'll be old news and they'll be about the shiny new draft eligible player coming down the line. They're wearing their franchise players into the ground and will cry when the next generational player doesn't fall into their laps.

He's injured? I thought they said he was fine. He even returned to the game on Monday

According to Jason Gregor, the Flames are alright, not great, as they’ve played all home games (wrong) and all their wins have only been by one goal (wrong again).

He's injured when he's back checking but 100% if he happens to pick up the puck at his own blue line.

He barely missed a shift on Monday. He was still second on the team in forwards ice time for the game. Only one Penguin forward had more ice time than he did on Monday.

Only 2 Flames forwards last night had more ice time than he did on Monday.

Yeah after initially being in a little pain he was back to business. I wonder if this is just a ploy in hopes of receiving sympathetic officiating?

That's a pretty simplistic way to look at the most intricate, complicated system in the history of the NHL.

Logan Thompson for Vegas as well.

Teams play their starter against the Oilers because that's the AB game they think they can win.

5 minutes into Soilers and Blues game the announcer says that these 2 teams would like to meet in the Western Conference Finals FFS, never change Oilers/Sportsnet

Between Oilersnet and The Toronto Sports Network, it's amazing the rest of Canada gets any coverage at all!

Hate to be a Oilers Homer, but the Amazing Jesse Poolparty finally got his first point of the season today. Now sitting at 7GP, 1pt, -4, averaging 12min TOI. What a stud.

Who's that? Jack Campbell? lol

What about Pavel Francouz? Didn't he beat the Oilers 3 straight last year to complete the sweep? The arrogance and bliss astounds me.

The Flames also played Eric Comrie who is clearly the starter

Did he mention we have wins against Colorado, Edmonton, Vegas, Carolina, and Pittsburgh? Not exactly a cake walk.

Who'd have thought of our 6 first opponents our only loss would be to Buffalo?

It is shocking that no team is interested in trading for Franken Berry. he's amazing

Oh.... there would be teams interested in trading for him.... along with the Oilers' 1st round draft pick (sweetner) and nothing or junk going back... 1 year, 3 million.... there are teams that could swallow that in their rebuild period.

But i get your point

Regardless, the ability to win tight one goal games consistently is more likely going to be indicative of future playoff success. Blowout games during the regular season don't say much about how resilient a team will be when faced with a tough situation/opponent.
