Sure. And they can make a profit by building it with their own money… if you can find them a city of 3 million people to do it in.

Remind me please; Under the previous Event Centre agreement, there was to be a swap of the CSEC Saddledome land parcel for the 2 blocks (14th to 12th ave, flanked by 4th & 5 St SE), owned by the Stampede Board?
Was there any other concession owning to the Stampede Board outside of that land swap? Who else owns the properties north & east of the event centre, up to the Remington lands?

You know what’s WORSE than an outdoor cold weather football game? An indoor football game in nice weather.
90% of the CFL season is in nice weather. A covered stadium would make a lot of people go to LESS football games.

I know the Stampede has everything south of 12th Ave, and the city has the bus barn, obviously, but I'm not sure where their land ends and Remington's begins.
Ages ago there was a Brad Lamb development at the parcel between 5th and 6th St called 'The Orchard' which was a couple (not quite Guardian height) towers with an orchard in the space between them. But that was announced a long time ago (feels like a decade) and I don't know if anything has happened with the site in terms of sales or new plans, because nothing has moved on The Orchard that's for sure.
No idea about the 4th to 5th St parcel.

Is CSEC going to have to register as lobbyists too?

Hey, I am absolutely not a fan of this lady but if she gets the ball rolling and maybe add the equivalent funding that Edmonton got from the province, then I’d be happy.
Just get the damn thing built.

You know, what really need to get this thing built is to make it *more* political. Why stop at the Premier, why don't we get JT involved as well?

I agree. I am no supporter either, but if she is willing to push funding through it would be great.

No matter which government pays for this (municipal, provincial, federal), it's still my money instead of Murray Edwards, who's the actual owner of the teams that use it. His company just made something like a $3B profit last quarter, so it seems more logical he pays than me.
That being said, the further up we go in the government ladder, the less of my money gets used - so I guess that's a bonus. Unless you live in Grande Prairie and cheer for the Oilers; I imagine those folks would have a different viewpoint. If it goes Federal, then someone living in Newfoundland can pay for the arena - even better!

I really want a new stadium. But if that means Smith is premier for the next 4 plus years I'd rather watch hockey with a hard hat on in a crumbling arena.
