I thought the Bears would put up a few more points tonight but did not see this coming. When the Bears can get running to the outside they do that pretty well.

Another game that makes no sense in a season full of them. Belichick shuts out the Lions which at the time featured a top offense and shuts down the Browns on the road only to come home and get torched by one of the most anemic offenses in the NFL.

Bears had 10 days to prepare and it looks like they did their homework. Full marks to them. Pats d was the most ordinary that they have looked this year (other than the beginning of the game, where Fields had issues).
Will be interesting to see what the Pats do this week in the QB spot as Zappe looked mediocre at the end of this game.

I wonder if any hard feelings developed from that early benching by Mac, he pretty much got embarrassed on prime time national TV with that. Which especially looks silly in hindsight, given how Zappe looked in the second half after an electric start.
Obviously the Patriots have a strong, established organizational structure in place that they could mitigate that, but it's something to keep an eye on going forward if a potential rift develops there.

It was such a strange, unusually panic move from Belichick. Game wasn't even out of hand or anything, and while Jones didn't look great, once you committed to starting him going with you had to give him until the game was really lost. Although that 10 minute jolt from Zappe was kinda surreal within the context of the game, take that out and the Pats otherwise got their asses kicked. Fields continues to be incredibly difficult to project, he has moments of brilliance and moments of idiocy, often within the same set of downs, let alone drive.

Fields is really an elite athlete. I was degenerate enough to watch a fair bit of their game the previous week and they dominated the yardage but their red zone scoring efficiency was terrible. Last week Fields would get away from a rusher but rather than keep going would stall to look up field and walk right into the second guy for a 15 yard loss. Whereas Mahomes who's like 75% the athlete Fields is usually gets away and buys himself time to escape the 2nd and third guy who just kicked his Offensive Linemans ass to throw it away or make those crazy plays. His elite football sense combined with his athleticism allows him to do this. Fields on athleticism can escape this and explode for a 40 yard play down field with his legs. But seems at time his awareness behind the line of scrimmage holds him back.
If Fields can figure this out and just throw those away that will improve him a lot. But at least to me it looks like the coaching staff is getting some progress out of this offence.

Zappe came into the game and chucked up a prayer ball that a receiver beat two defenders to bring down and next series almost overthrew a WR that was wide open due to blown coverage and was fortunate he could make a circus grab for the TD. You could tell that approach would eventually swing the other way and even out with turnovers. Hard to argue the switch didn’t pay off immediately but the defense was either not prepared or had a really bad day and that Patriots offense is not setup for slinging the ball up and down the field. I would imagine they go back to Mac as if they stick with Zappe it means they have lost confidence in a 1st rounder that was supposed to be their franchise QB and that kind of stuff starts to erode a QB’s confidence.

they've now traded a conditional 6th (could turn into a 5th) for James Robinson to replace him. Nice move.

Aaron Rodgers said guys need playing time cut, and his buddy and QB coach said he had the best performance of the season Sunday.
He has been unhinged ever since he lied about being vaccinated and catching covid.

Well it's not that far fetched that it could have been Rogers best graded game of the season. The bar this year isn't that high.
The comment I found amusing was his snide remark about "This is still kind of Free Country." He also was a bit Curt about how everyone interpreted his this might be the best thing that could happen to us comment.
He was more arsehole than usual today, and McAfee is very easy on him. Part of me wants him to keep going this way. But this year being this year and the Bill's being the Bill's....I could the Packers winning a bizarre game 16-14 because Buffalo goes 0 for 5 on 4th down in the red zone thinking they need 30 points to win this game when 20 will be more than enough.

Funny that Favre overstayed his welcome in GB and it would appear that A-Aron is doing the same.

Prior to his COVID antics there were whispers that Rodgers wasn’t the best teammate and purposely undermined McCarthy. Now it’s pretty evident that he’s just not a good guy. One of the best quarterbacks ever but as a person more Jeff George than Joe Montana.

Eagles just traded for Robert Quinn of the Bears, huge acquisition. Bears get a 4th round pick in return. Philly really going for it this year, and why not?

Tied the Bears all time sack record last year. Should be a good add for the Eagles.
Good to see the Bears attempting to restock on draft picks
