That was the first episode of the season I really liked. Rhaenyra 2.0 has grown on me a lot, and I'm starting to figure out who's who both in the present and future Game of Thrones.

I shouted a great big 'F-U' at that cliffhanger, though.

It felt like we should have ended up where we are now by the end of the second episode. The entire season was a prologue to a war…not sure a 10+ hour prologue is what I wanted from this season.

In an attempt to make the characters “multi-dimensional”, it feels like they’ve made them all really wishy washy and kind of boring. There isn’t a single character who is compelling - for good or for evil. Maybe that will happen in season two but, to be honest, if this wasn’t a show that was in the GoT universe, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be renewed.

the choking scene was jarring for sure .. the way i interpreted it is he's angry that she's entertaining keeping the peace because of viserys delusions .. then she hits him in the ego for it by saying "he didn't tell you did he" .. felt excessive right after the crowning scene where they all bent the knee and submitted to her respectfully . Daemon is clearly a little ***ed between the ears . lives up to his name as the "rogue prince"

That was pretty weak honestly. I thought this can’t be the big season ending cliff hanger, another dead heir nobody cares about? But it was. And that was disappointing ?

Also thought the stillbirth scene was pointless. What did that really show us or accomplish?

And Damon choking her out of nowhere? Weird.

I dunno. 5/10 seems pretty accurate for season one. Incredible scenes that punctuated a rather boring and redundant narrative.

I agree with others, we could have been here by episode 6 I feel like easily. But I guess they feel the need to draw the source material out. More seasons means more money.

Have they set a cap on this series?

I’ll definitely watch season 2, so mission accomplished. But once again I draw a comparison to Rings of Power which had a much better conclusion to the start of their story.

Are you telling me Stannis' table could light up like that the entire time??

Seriously great final.

There aren't a lot of great current shows at the moment. I'd give the edge to Succession. They basically have the same plot though. Maybe time for a crossover episode where Shiv gets a dragon.

No doubt...wife and I watched the last three episodes last night, and I was physically leaning in for them. Thought they were very good.

Not sure why everyone wants this show to speed things up. The build up and plotting by the houses is one of the best things about GoT. This was one of the show's focuses, when Rhaenyra was shown standing over the fire map/table, saying she likes to know who her allies are before throwing them into war.

Really enjoyed this season. Thought it got better as it went on too.

So I’m starting to think the personality difference between young Rhaenyra and old Rhaenyra was intentional.

When Rhaenyra turned around at the end of the episode she looked more like young Rhaenyra than she had all season (to the point where it made me wonder if they did some makeup / CGI to make her look like her younger self again)

I think we see the fiery and more impulsive Rhaenyra again in season 2, more like her younger self before she needed to be more composed for the good of the realm.

Every time a dragon lands on that stone walkway, I feel bad for the masons who have to go repair it. Most thankless job in the realm!

Also, what do all the dragons on Dragonstone eat? I remember that being a bit of an issue in GOT. Doesn't look like there is much for land mammals around, maybe they like sushi?

Question about Daemon. What was his dragon scene about and did it have something to do with Aemond's dragon attacking? And how did Deamon know the kid was killed? It seems to make sense that Deamon would set that up so Rhaenyra goes to war, but not sure the logistics of what happened there?

I don’t think Daemon’s scene where he’s courting that large dragon has anything to do with the dragon attack scene. It appears that Daemon may have recruited a large fire breathing dragon that will likely wreak some havoc in the next season.

The dragon attack scene brings things full circle from episode 1 where Visery’s says “The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion”.

I thought the Daemon scene had more to do with the unclaimed dragons he was talking about during the war council. Think he is trying to claim a bigger dragon to ride.

If you are looking for a hero to cheer for, or a real villain to hate, you aren't getting it in House of the Dragon.

This is based on the books which are an in-universe historical retelling of the era and the conclusion is basically that all the people here, on both sides are not well-regarded in history. They were known for throwing the land into war and destruction on both sides because they were weak and selfish.

That the dragons are so heavy that every time they land, they carve up and crack the stone work doesn't make any sense in physics. If they were really flying like flying dinosaurs, their bones would be holllow and they would be light weight.

I guess they are magic.

I actually hesitate to venture into this thread because of the negativity. I enjoy the show a lot. Is it as good as GOT season 1? No but, how many shows were that good? Band of Brothers?

I was thinking about it more today, and I think the most interested I was in that entire finale was during the Last of Us tease before the intro.. lol

Not even trying to troll. Legitimately I was fist pumping for that preview. And I didn’t reach that level of excitement again for the entire hour.
