LOL at the HNIc/Sportsnet panel voting for both Demko and Campbell as the vexing favorites.
Almost poetic.

Oiler fans are coming for that record and tossing a jersey in the first preseason game next season and raising a banner for it on opening night.

####ty team is ####ty. I don’t understand why anyone thought they’d be good. They’re horribly constructed.

Wow, what a loser.
This should go in the 'BC lags behind other provinces in life satisfaction thread'.

Is that account a legit Canucks fan? Could just be a troll trying to make Canuck fans look bad. He doesn't follow anything Canucks, nor posted anything hockey related till that post. Definitely not a reflection on Canuck fans.

Either way I’ve no sympathy for one of the worst jersey logos ever.

You have to wonder if they made the right calls in the post bubble offseason. They made the choice that many could and will defend was the right choice and kept Demko over Markstrom. Had they signed Markstrom a NMC would have been required and he would have been locked in as the goalie through expansion draft so they opted to let him walk to a division rival in free agency. I wonder what other teams would have offered for Demko in trade which could have helped with their win now mantra which aligns with Markstrom’s age? Markstrom+assets in a Demko trade or Demko? Debatable.
The Canucks spent assets to being in Toffoli at the deadline and he fit in well going point per game before the league shut down. He wanted to stick around after the season but the Canucks decided to bring back Jake Virtanen and Toffoli decides to go to Montreal on a fairly team friendly deal which was obviously traded to Calgary a year and bit into it. Since Toffoli left LA he has 108pts in 141 games while Virtanen is out of the league
The Canucks flirted with an OEL trade after their surprising second round game 7 run in the bubble. They decided to not offer Tanev more than a 3 year deal and when Brodie decided to leave Calgary for Toronto the Flames quickly shifted to Tanev and locked him up. The Canucks pivoted by trading a 3rd for Nate Schmidt and his $5M cap hit long term. That ended up being a failure and the Canucks were able to reaquire a 3rd when they sent Schmidt to the Jets the following year. The Canucks consolidated a bunch of bad contracts which happened to be expiring and attached a 9th overall pick to finally complete the OEL trade with some light retention and also bring in Garland who is a second line wing whose name has been in trade rumors since Rutherford stepped in.
The Canucks rebuild peaked in the last year they had 3 players who are all now key parts of a Flames team that fancies itself a contender.

People take sports way too serious. I was honestly hoping people would be better to each other after the pandemic. It was better for awhile, but now they seem worse than ever.

Yeah you can't call six games a season, it's still a small sample size.
But it seems the players themselves have turned a few poor bounce games into something more, when all they really had to do was stick with it and wait for Demko to find his legs.
They now need to go .611 the rest of the way if it takes 95 points to get in like it did last year. That win % is a 100 point team pace, and they have to do it for 76 games.

It was funny seeing some Canuck fans over the summer on HF discuss how the Canucks were being slept on and we would all see them contend for the division this year with their incredibly deep forward group. Those threads were bumped over the weekend and are an entertaining read

This Canuck streak is amazing! We want 10!

TSN has a pic of the Canucks coaching staff in their front page this morning. Mike Yeo is there. I didn't realize he's an assistant there this year. I feel like this explains pretty much everything.

It would be so fitting for the Canucks to fire one of the winningest head coaches in NHL history and promote Mike Yeo to head coach. Jim Benning would approve of that as well as all the high ranking people in the NHL that Yeo has dirt on.
