Can’t both be stupid? You know, many sides and all that?

Is there anyone saying this smith article was dumb but trudeau’s actions weren’t?

Anybody bringing up black face, as though people understood it to be offensive in 2000, only need to delve back into our collective history from less than 8 years ago to be reminded that a lot of people were cool with it even after Trudeau’s foray.

here's one for you.

UCP policy resolution could see municipal officials register as lobbyists

https://edmontonjournal.com/news/loc...9-2d76b6d47371

A policy resolution to be voted on at this weekend’s UCP annual general meeting could have municipal officials and politicians register as lobbyists, but many small-town mayors are raising concerns about the idea.

Resolution 14 would call on the provincial government to have councillors, administration and staff from municipalities register as lobbyists if they are dealing with the province.

Why on earth does a province of 4.5 million need 24 cabinet ministers. If the UCP wanted to demonstrate their commitment to fiscal prudence that number could be cut in half.

This is interesting, although no idea why they buried it on a friday, Smith's cabinet announcement, both parties' conventions this weekend, etc.

Plenty of other things to criticize… it’s ancient history…

…which is why you’ve criticized none of those other things and brought up “ancient history” of a politician you dislike, right?

You guys are all the same.

Looking back to determine when the Conservative Parties (whatever their names were) lost me, and it was very clearly when they decided that they weren't the party of "small government" or "lower taxes" but instead simply became grifters who hate women, LBGTQ+ and minorities. They load up government with their friends and give out millions of dollars worth of sole-sourced/non-competitive contracts to their campaign contributors. They aren't interested in lowering taxes, they look at the average Conservative voter as ####s whose sole purpose is to make them rich.

Maybe it is just that I have become more critical in my analysis as I stepped away from the political leanings of my parents, but I'm not sure that's it. I can't say I approved of his method of dealing with homelessness, but I never considered Ralph Klein to be trying to line his pockets (or those of his friends).

Conservative parties across the world have taken a sharp turn towards populism, grift and portraying themselves as anti-elitists (when their actions imply that they consider themselves to be elite). They espouse a philosophy that government just gets in the way of business and that human rights are unnecessary. It's a first step towards fascism.

I can't stand it anymore. I've donated what I can to the Alberta NDP, and I am volunteering with my local constituency association. It's not much, but I figure I can either bitch about the direction that the Province (and the world?) seem to be taking or I can try to do something about it.

^ this. If you truly still believe in the Conservatives of your parents generation, then fight for it because it sure as hell doesn’t exist in the current regime

That’s a good “hire” or however it should be phrased.

I don’t know, I think there are 3 subcategories:

- the legitimately naive

- the legitimately brainwashed

- those who stand to directly benefit from certain polices and will do anything possible to convince the other two categories that those policies are good for them too

That interview was interesting though. Like she spoke about firing the entire AHS board. Can a premier even do that?

And I think AHS needs some significant revision and improvements. I’m not sure what her axe to grind is though. She’s obviously got a vendetta against them for some reason?

Price of loyalty these days. Plus the hope that for some the perceived clout of being a minister will save their seats at election time.

So many things and issues, and on top of it, I don't even know if right, but weirdly almost seems like a conflict of interest on top of things. She is so invested in certain things that she is effectively now going to (try to) force it to happen?

She got kicked off a board once. Maybe this is payback against 'the system'.

Smith going on the Western Standard is like Trump going on InfoWars. Absolutly despicable our premier is showing up there, driving traffic and money towards an organization that promotes bigotry, is anti-science, and regularly lies directly to the public.

Congratulations Conservatives, you've let this tumour grow, and now it's about to decimate all of us. Someone call Alberta's chief Naturopath, this province needs some cancer care.

BTW - If you want to get quickly added to Derek Fildebrandt's block list, remind him of his grifting days as an MLA.

No offence and you sound like you mean well but a lot of your post here is really reaching and you’re crying over nothing, take a break and carry on with your volunteering and fundraising.
Could you elaborate on how gay people for example are having a tough time, I see more openly gay and trans people than ever before. I think some of you on here complain too much. And if it wasn’t Smith that won the leadership and someone else you would still be crying.
