Yea hopefully he hits a few more one ts, but as long as he’s shooting, moving and engaged he does contribute overall

Exactly. They’ll be fine. My worry meter remains at 0.

They have two top-2 picks on their blue line. Dahlin is breaking out. Power looks like a stud.

Forwards are big, fast and skilled.

They’re not doing anything, but I can see them as a 6/7/8 seed.

Huberdeau doesn't drive play like gaudreau did, and neither does Lindholm or Toffoli. Feel like you need to swap Lindholm with Kadri or Toffoli with Mang on that line.

Zadorov forechecking in the third period was awesome.

Its possible I just think people are going overboard...how long are they going to get away with allowing 40+ shots a game?

I'm a big Toffoli fan, I just don't see it working on that top line. The second line is obviously working and should stay in tack. Huberdeau works best with guys who are quick and fast at making plays on the rush (Bennett/Duclair), he's not a Gaudreau type where he's going to hold on and carry the puck into the zone and create that way. There's no puck carriers on that line right now and there's almost no sustained o - zone time with that line.

None of them are puck carriers, that's the problem. That is how Gaudreau drives the play.

All the guys we have left on the top line are dump and chasers. The closest we have to puck carriers is on the 2nd line with Kadri, etc.

You’re not going to go 82-0 in a season.

Made some costly mistakes and they made their way past our goalies.

I dunno - How long did the Hartley Flames do it?

The Sabres gave this team more trouble than the Avs, the Oilers or the Knights.

That some something about them.

Flames also didn't play their best game...just saying its early. Yotes gave the Leafs more trouble than the Stars

its early...they might be in the mix but its a long season, especially for a young team. I think allowing 45-50 shots a game will catch up to them.

That penalty Z took when the flames had the momentum at 3-4 was the killer.

Andersson was really forcing it tonight and made a couple terrible pinches.

The Sabres were on their toes all night and playing confidently. The Flames were flat-footed and had no puckluck.

Having said all that, the weak call against Zadorov in the 3rd was the difference - the Flames were all over the Sabres at the time, and tieing it up seemed inevitable.

Andersson seemed to get caught up ice a lot. Does Hanifin usually cover a lot of these pinches/gambles? Or did Andersson just have a game to forget?

Hanifin being out of the lineup made 2 of the pairings weaker. It made a huge difference tonight.

Not a great call for sure but after that 3rd goal the Flames weren't getting any more favors

Scoring Chances 32-31
High danger chances 8-9
Possession 48-52

"Flames got worked!"

we are so used to the Flames dominating every game

Stinks that they were so generous on D early

Dominated the third until the stinker of a penalty call

Bright spot:
Huberdeau is a genius at passing

Really impressed by my team tonight. I’ve been talking a lot about how the Sabres have really turned a corner and (understandably) getting a lot of “yeah sure’s ” both here and in real life. Fast, lots of energy, opportunistic… a solid game all around. This was a big confidence building night for a young team, to come into a very good team’s building early in the season.

There’s a long way to go before I can relax, this franchise has given me lots of false hope in the past. But something definitely feels different about this group.

And Calgary will be just fine, there’s still new players learning chemistry. Great veteran team built to win and go far — but nobody goes 82-0!
