Absolutely outstanding work by Treliving. Pretty sure that he is just setting everything up so that he can take the next year off. What's not to like about what he's done so far.

Just when you think he’s done, he’s not done.

Another Star player, who can’t wait to get out of Calgary, walking themselves to Free Agency.

Way to go Brad

Treliving is setting everything up so that he can get completely wasted with the Stanley Cup next off season.

Great signing by Brad.

Keeps Wolf in the AHL a little longer and if he forces them to make a decision, then Vladar or Markstrom can be traded.

Nothing to prove in the AHL. He was literally the best. Look at the stats of when star goalies make the nhl. Age 21 as other posters have mentioned.

So if he proves it again and is the best goalie in the league in consecutive seasons, then he can be a superstar (ahl level)?

I will re-iterate for clarity, Wolf was the very best goalie in the AHL last season. Expecting him to do that multiple seasons to be considered a start is what's silly. NOT speculating that he may be traded based on Vladars new contract.

Are you implying that you don't understand context? A superstar at the ahl level is pretty straight forward to understand....furthermore , wolf's season was one of the best ever in the ahl. He did it as a rookie.

Wolf is probably not happy, but this is the safe and smart play by the Flames. We still don't know if Wolf can get it done at the NHL level with his size. Unless Vladar turns to crap his trade value after next season should be very good if they do decide to go with Wolf next season (which I doubt).

Wolf will get some games in most likely as injuries do happen.

I'm pretty high on Vladar, young and improving. Could definitely be a #1 one day.

Okay... then define a superstar at the AHL level, since it's so easy. Then we'll at least know your definition of one.

Jfc dude.

#1 goalie in that league, not a #1 goalie, THE number one goalie. I'm not the one who brought up the term superstar, and I won't define, but if wolf isn't one, no one is.

I looked at his stats in AHL regular season last year. 8th in GAA, 4th in save percentage. Very good numbers but I wouldn’t call those superstar numbers. Yes he was the youngest there but Skinner also put up very good numbers and no one is calling him a superstar (well it’s Edmonton so likely someone is). Still when I hear the term superstar thrown around I expect top of the league stats and not just really good stats. I see little to support him being the #1 goalie. Top for his age sure but not number 1.

You should look at games played, wins, age and the ahl awards.

Game played yes he played about ten or so more than his competition. Wins well he played more games and that is not a goalie stat. Age well sure he’s young we said that already. Being young and good in the AHL is no guarantee of NHL success. See Phillips. AHL awards well it’s going to favor person with more counting stats so yeah you’ve just named 3 stats that say how much he played and that he’s young. When I look at you know actual goalie stats I don’t see numbers that stand above his competition.

The amount of high quality chances Coachella Valley had was insane.

For real. No one should be holding those two games against Wolf as proof that he can't cut it, is regressing, or whatever.

Coachella's 19-man roster that was iced against the Wranglers has close to 2000 games of collective pro experience (NHL, AHL, SHL, FEL), including over 700 NHL games. 10 of those players played in the NHL last year, including one full-time NHLer, and former Jack Adams winner, Dan Bylsma, is their head coach.

By comparison, the Wranglers' 20-man roster had close to 1200 pro games (NHL, AHL, Czech, KHL, AHL) and only 200 NHL games. 5 of those players saw NHL action least season, and Mitch Love is a sophomore pro coach.

There's a pretty stark difference between those two teams. It's impressive that the Wranglers kept things as close as it was
