I actually think it was more along the lines of this:

Brad Treliving: "Ho, hum.... I'm bored........ Hey, I know—I can negotiate a new deal for Vladar." ...

*RING! RING!*

Brad Treliving: "Hey there, Dan Vladar's agent. I just faxed an offer over, and I thought we could start talk— ... What's that? ... I see ... Well, that's great news. I will look forward to seeing Dan to sign the deal before lunch... Yeah, sure. 'Bye."

Brad Treliving: "... Hum .... I'm super bored again...."

Dustin Wolf is currently sporting a 5.44 GAA and a 0.857 SP through his first two games. I would say that he definitely has plenty to prove yet before making the NHL jump.

Good move to lock him up, goaltending issues can derail a season so in this contending window they need proven depth.

That all being said, cap will be interesting next year. If it only goes up a small amount, someone like Toffoli, Zadorov, etc will need to be traded

"unless he can force his way in"
This is usually how it should work I'd think.

He liked the post of Vladar and Tre together. Probably has a good relationship with Vladar and is happy for him.

Think the Flames will try to keep Wolf in the AHL as long as possible. He'll only be 24 in 2025. Markstrom will have one year left then.

Sounds like it's going up by $4m next year.

This is amazing. Did not expect this.

Vladar is a solid goaltender with still room to grow. Assumed he’d be growing elsewhere with a heftier contract after this season.

Having 3 strong goalies under Flames’ control will be mean a great return when it’s time to make room for Wolf, or decide to run longer with the tally tendy tandem.

Lol at anyone bringing up Wolf's stats after 2 games, they played what is most likely to be one of the best AHL teams this year and they got dominated + the fact that majority of Wranglers team had unremarkable camps and it showed in their first games. The amount of high quality chances Coachella Valley had was insane.

I don't think the posters that brought up Wolf's gaa was down on Wolf, those are directed at the post that said he is already a superstar and has nothing to prove. Let's be honest, that's a pretty silly statement.

If you play well everything else takes care of itself. If both young guys keep evolving their games what great assests we will have. Maybe it gets to a point where you could trade Markstrom. That is a ways off but that could become a huge trade chip for the org and some cap savings. You just don't know how things will play out.Plus goalies are really hard to figure out. Depth is always a good thing to have.

Vladar, another guy that really wants to be part of the team. He seems like a good guy and wants to get better. If he really elevates his game this year it will be a real good deal and even if he doesn't the cap hit is minimal.Really good signing. Good work Tre.

I'm ok with that.

Vlader needs a new custom full black jersey, black gear, with black helmet, and bright red goalie stick, so he can enter onto the ice to the imperial march.

This is a nice vote of confidence and hopefully and indication that he will start ~25 games - keeping Markstrom under 60!
