I was teaching in a rural Alberta high school when the First Nations railways blockades were occurring. My students had a meltdown about it and argued for the train to 'run them over'. Then when the convoy protests happened, they argued against removing the protestors because 'they're fighting for our freedoms'. They're just kids, but they often parrot what they've heard at home, even if its terribly hypocritical.
One bright spot, for me, was my UCP MLA at the time. He argued in fovor of arresting and removing the convoy protestors at the Coutts border. He took a ton of heat for it on facebook from the crazies, but he said that since he had earlier argued for the ending of the First Nations railway blockades, he had to apply the same logic to the Coutts blockade. I called him and told him I appreciated his sanity.

What an odd, odd thing to say.
I mean, you're not wrong! Just pointing out how odd Doug Ford being the sane conservative movement leader is.

If you head over to the Alberta Politics thread you can see what the "crazy" conservative movement leader looks like.
On second thought, don't go to that thread.. it is a silly place.

I mean we literally have proof that the conservatives wanted the convoy to be "Trudeau's problem". That right there is enough to clean house in my opinion. Such childish ridiculous behaviour. If the roles were reversed I would feel exactly the same way.
The convoy was torture, expensive and nonsensical.

Good to see JT wagging his finger at the O&G industry yesterday, telling everyone he looking forward to shutting it down. Yet doesn’t realize that the piggy bank his government steals from is filled in large part by that industry.

There's a lot of sketchy details on the app floating out there. Like I said companies with addresses that are vacation cabins. Non functioning business websites etc.
I'd say there needs to be an inquiry, but any inquiry will be pretty much blocked.
I'd say the RCMP should be called in, but they're not exactly trustworthy when it comes to investigating the government.

+i am sure when the PM is asked about the app in the Ho C he will go on a rant about keeping canadians safe, providing good middle class jobs for canadian developers and something the environment
make me sick how little the government cares about oversight and managing our money prudently

In the second quarter this year Canada’s 22 largest petroleum producers paid $12.7B in taxes and royalties to Canadian governments. (ATB Capital Markets, source) Part of that is because capital investment has been recovered moving producers into a higher royalty bracket.

While at the same time Freeland is telling cabinet ministers the purse strings need to be tightened.
Lots of hypocrisy floating around today. Spend like drunken sailors and then act all surprised when things go to crap.

I think Canadians do care. I mean look at the outrage on this thread right now, and rightly so.

You weren't far off in response. Although not from the PM but this is what the Government had to say today in Question Period:
"Throughout the pandemic keeping Canadians safe has always been our top priority and that was why we used the ArriveCan app. CBSA is aware of concerns surrounding contracts and they are looking into the matter further."
