Great move, this is a very good and tradable contract if Vladar has a good back-up year this season. So if Wolf is ready next year, we can get a good return for Vladar.

The work he put in the summer is noticeable he has looked great and seems like a great guy in the locker room.
Sutter could never find a backup when he was the coach and GM in Calgary, he finally has a good one.

I think he is a great 1B now and might still get better, so I think this as a good signing.

What would the market be for Markstrom if we wanted to trade him? A first??
The goalie market is hard to guess as few established vets are traded. The last one I can think of is Bishop who was younger and had no trade protections.
(doubtful the team would ever proceed with Vlader and Wolf, but interesting anyways)

I love it too but I wonder how long they will be able to keep him in the AHL if he keeps having strong seasons. Great problem to have.

Excellent signing extension. Cringe at the days a guy was scared to watch every time the backup played.
Vladar has given the team an excellent chance to win almost every start he’s worn the flaming c.
His acquisition alone added so much more depth to the goalie position within the organization.

Important piece moving forward and glad he has resigned. Little higher amount than I would have guessed as he hasn't played a lot of nhl games and has a league avg save percentage but I think almost all flames fans will agree that we can see the upside and having a capable backup was probably the difference between much better seeding and an exhausted playoff goalie for those many years we had kipper in his prime and threw to guys like Sauve
