I also like the creamy grey colour on cars. I thought I'd be tired of it by now, but even though it's been popular on mainstream cars for the past few years it still looks nice to me. Especially with black trim/wheels.
As long as we don't go back to that teal colour from the mid-90s we're in good shape.

Oooo. Flashback to the '94 teal Cutlass Supreme convertible with white roof my parents almost bought when I was a teen.

Why not? It may not be my favourite either, but I'll gladly have it in the mix to break up the 50 shades of silver on the roads.
You can actually get something similar on this Toyota C-HR, and I think it's great to have such a bold option. These types of cheapo cars should be teal and yellow and purple etc...

Booo. Bring back the 90's. Bring back wire spoke wheels. And especially bring back 90's names.

I'm all for people having colourful cars. Still don't like teal, though.
It would be great if cars went back to having names instead of being named after barcodes.

I owned a 1GB Talon TSI and 2GB Eclipse GST and my most fond memories of modding cars were my DSM years. Over the last few decades I have spent a long time scouring the US and Canada for great condition Laser RS (or 2G Eclipse GSX) but I think most of them are off the road now or junk.

The first/second gen Talon/Eclipse were such cool looking cars back in the day (not sure what the hell happened with the 3rd gen Eclipse). Too bad they were almost all modded to hell. Probably even harder to find a clean one than a second-gen MR2.

Ford sync with my touch question. 2012 Focus SEL hatchback Screen is locked up currently. I see 2 fuses that should control the system
1. 7.5-amp fuse #67 for Sync multi-function display, GPS, Compass
2. 15-amp fuse #79 for Radio, Nav, DVD, Touch Screen, hazard light switch, door lock switch.
To perform a reset should I pull both of these fuses and run the car for a while without them in then put back in and run again for a while?
System is eligible for an update so booked an appointment but if I can get the screen working, I will try the update from USB and save a couple hundred bucks. currently running Sync 2 version 2.11

I'd love a Laser just for the name. I take a look across the web a few times a year and sadly it does seem like they're all dead

AWD turbo DSMs were such good fun, especially in the winter. I did look into what availability there was on the used market but I think most of the bodies -- as with most old Chrysler and Mitsu products -- have rotted into nothingness. It's very hard to find anything from that era that's still in somewhat serviceable shape, and if you do it's a $35k asking price (there's a built 2G turbo Eclipse for sale in Edmonton). Just nutty.
The 3000GT/Stealth RT twins were fun cars too.

I agree a pastel type teal is kinda gross. But a metallic type teal with some black and other colors that blend in and change as the light hits it is pretty nice.
TBH though, I find most pastel type colors on most cars kinda bleh, especially this recent pastel creamy looking grey on new cars that many auto makers seem to have.

Weird, I just saw a teal Ford Escape followed directly by a teal Honda CRV. What are the odds? It's like when your phone gives you ads for stuff you talk about, but IRL.

Guess I've been living under a rock cause I was flabbergasted at a new tire quote I received. Didn't realize how challenged that sector is.

I think it's a double whammy.
Prices steadily increased because inflation, supply issues etc.
The average vehicles now aren't using 13-16 inch wheels anymore, they're all like gigantic 17-19 inch wheels.

Only higher-end vehicles started using 20"s as factory options in the late 2000s, and now it's like the base wheel size for SUVs and trucks too. It's mental.

It's the worst on cars that have big brakes as the amount of tires available is considerably smaller at 20". I don't recall ever paying $2k for a set of winter tires but here we are.

Apart from the extra cost, doing the winter/summer tire swap at these big-ass sizes is definitely more of a pain, especially if you need to mount/balance/torque it all solo. By the end of a swap, I feel like a (very poor) entrant in a strongman competition.
My next car will be a Peel P50.

They aren't cheap either!
Edit: You can build a new one!

Jeebus. I guess every car has its fans, but I can't imagine how extensive of a car collection I'd need to already have before I justified paying $176K for a microcar.

has anyone used a mobile mechanic recently and can recommend?
is it cheaper than getting it towed to a shop? I have an issue starting my van and it is mostly likely the starter (based on having charged the battery and a grinding noise)

If you need to get it running to get it to a shop, you can often have one person turn the key, and the other tap the starter with a hammer or something. That sounds like the starter motor gear isn't popping out to engage properly, so a few taps will get it going.
