I know it's a tough balance, but just a thought for future games as I know a lot of people are excited about having another affordable family friendly sports option in the city.

Agree with the SOUND LEVEL..... my 8 year old is wanting to wear earmuffs next game because it is too loud.
Considering 19000 fans vs less than half that (and likely less for non-opener games) I think the loudness should be turned down!

Adding my voice to those saying it was too loud.
Definitely need more concession capacity on the club level. Whether that's a few specific vendors just selling beer or popcorn to cut down the main lines, or even having one or two tills open in the club area with hot dogs/burgers the lines were way too long.
On the positive side - loved the atmosphere generally. Having the lower bowl full made it a fun crowd, and my kids are excited to go back. We have seasons and will attend every matinee (including the Fridays).
Also, the game at second intermission where the two guys were bungeed together was hilarious.

Also want to add that it was great value. Loved the opportunity to watch the prospects up close.
Will probably come to a few more afternoon games but with earplugs. Way too loud - over 90 decibels according to my watch. We left mid-game because of that. Found it interesting that they censored the N word but not the MF word in The Weeknd's Starboy. Weird.
Thanks for the promo code! More people should come to these.

Add me to the list that felt the PA was too loud. Kids definitely had a hard time with it - was also considering leaving as well too bc of how much the sound was affecting them. Totally agreed that it’s a hard balance to get right, but at the end of the day, the fan experience was great, good value for money, hockey was entertaining, all that good stuff.
Last thing, Harvey the Hound got some standing ovations, he was super popular with the kids, but kinda felt like it was hard to track him down. Maybe more Harvey time?

The PA thing is weird as it's not a Heat or Flames thing, it's a North American sport thing now a days. I've never heard anyone say they like it as loud as it as sporing venues, but I've heard many upon many point it out as the biggest or only detriment to a sports night out, especially the complete inability to speak to one and other.
It's stunning that there's people that determine that new standard 85-95 decibal level is perfect for sports entertainment when music teachers and most blue collar industry companies consider it important to wear hearing protection at these levels.
EDIT: Stockton Heat Prez; Can you speak to the decibel level that you guys (and most sports venues now) use relative to the fact that hearing protection is recommended for anything over 85 decibels? Seems insane to me that sports venues are literally contributing to hearing issues/loss.

Last season, 9 teams had average attendance over 6,000 per game. 20 teams had average attendance over 4,000 per game.
----------
Pre-COVID, in 2018-19, 6 teams were over 8,000; 12 teams were over 6,000; and 24 were over 4,000.

Adding my thoughts from other threads here for feedback gathering:
- It was a fun game to attend and great value for the quality of the hockey. I would definitely go again.
- Agreed on the volume being too much. I had a friend say "why do they tell us to make some noise when you can't hear the crowd until the music is off?" That sums it up well.
- When I saw the massive lineup in the club level during the 1st intermission, I tried to go up to the main concourse. Big mistake. Every concession was packed and the lines moved really slowly. I didn't get back to my seat until after the first Wranglers goal, about 8 minutes into the 2nd period. Next time I go to a Wranglers game I'll probably skip the concessions.

I was thinking that a Wranglers game would be a great affordable opportunity to take my kids to a hockey game this year, but hearing how many kids had issues with the noise is definitely a deterrent. Flames games are too loud to my 40 year old ears, so I can image how loud they are to a kid with good hearing.
All in all though, catering to a more family-oriented crowd is a good Marketing strategy for the Wranglers. Flames games are too expensive to take a whole family, and there also aren't enough afternoon games (7/8pm start times are just too late for most young kids). But yeah, please turn it down from 11.

I feel like Wranglers could be good for University / College drinking crowd too. Lots of weekend games, cheaper tickets, make money on booze.
Hitmen to me should be the focus for kids/families.
Flames the premium brand of course.

I had one of those too. I don’t mind swearing, and lord knows I do it enough, but there’s kids everywhere bro. Save it for the bar.

True, that's a solid target too. I have good memories of going to Flames games during the Young Guns era when they had cheaper tickets for college kids.
They should probably just have a dedicated Family section, so you can have both but have the option to be a bit separated. While I understand that some people go to games to party, as a parent there's nothing I hate more than taking my kid to a game and being surrounded by drunken buffoons.

Even in our drunken buffoon days we had a steadfast rule of no swearing. Lots of loud stupidity and dumb comments but PG rated, and we'd keep each other in check lol. Kept it fun and I don't think we bothered people (too much).

Overall it was a great experience. Echo what some have said. I had to go to the Fanattic and grab a couple ear muffs for my nieces. The club seats concessions were really backed up. I also ended up heading upstairs to grab stuff. The nieces and their parents liked the telus sparks science booth. Last, but not least, the happy hour all game on Sunday was awesome. Only thing I would have added is some signage around what the specials were. I didn't see anything and had to ask.

Once upon a time I worked on a marketing project in University with the Flames/Hitmen when Hitmen attendance was struggling.
And the research was that was a big part of it - students didn't want to go drink and be rowdy because it felt weird with families kids around, and vice versa where families didn't want to go because they didn't want to sit with the crazies yelling and swearing.
Dedicated student sections and dedicated family sections was the proposal (complete with bus transportation from UofC, Mount Royal, and Sait for the students tickets)
I know they tried it for a couple years but not sure if it ever went anywhere beyond that.

They have the student sections and a family section for the Roughnecks games.
