Cringe levels of epic proportions for anyone who would order one of these.

On the flip side, wish I thought of this to sell to Oilers fans, would have been easy money

I must say, I was shocked to see that a couple of posters seem to think that they are in cap trouble, their defence is terrible and that their “window” might be closing.
I don’t expect that kind of objectivity there.

And then the thought police come down on them pretty hard.

I just couldn't help but respond to the posters suggesting that Campbell just needs more practice. The guy is 30 and has only ever been a #1 goalie for one season, and the team that tried that, moved on pretty quickly and he only played 49 games. He pretty much is what he is, and practice isn't the issue. I pointed that out, which isn't even an opinion, but an indisputable fact.

As one of the anomalies pointed out, it’s unbelievable that they are 8 years into mcdavid, with a short roster, capped out and not even 2 top 4 defencemen.
Not to mention that Toronto may have a crapload of cap space in 2 years.

Anyway
I’m afraid to spend too much time reading that board. It’s much too…clouded.

I read today the Sutters system is very simple and therefore easier for players to pickup. The Oilers system is much more advanced and players will take longer to learn.

Pass it to McDavid/get out of McDavid's way/get open for McDavid...

Doesn't sound terribly complicated

Thats funny.
Lets see if this can be explained.
When amateurs watch pros.......pros make it look easy.
when amateurs are taught a professional method.....its hard to pick up.

They have a system?

Honestly, it's easily the most undisciplined team I've ever seen play hockey, and I've seen plenty a pee wee game.

There's no form, no cohesion, no systematic approach. It's just chaotic evil (nerd alert).

There's a reason they are dangerous, and it's because nobody knows how to play them. It's an impossible team to scout other than their PP set ups. They don't know how they play from one shift to the next, making it difficult to predict and make a gameplan for.

Evil genius? A little, because as long as you have two superstars, you can overcome any semblance of a game plan or system. Just give them the puck, have them draw a phantom penalty, and then go do the one thing you've been trained how to do, score a goal on the power play.

It's not hockey, it's a video game. And quite frankly? It disgusts me.

To think that Oilers fans, who are supposed to be educated and steeped in the lore of historic greatness, who are supposed to understand the game better than anyone...to think that they view this as real hockey is ####ing laughable.

This is all very true, but it's high time someone figures out how to stop a 2 person power play. They are no good however.

This is quite wrong. Article 26 of the CBA explicitly says that if an owner, or any other person affiliated with an NHL club, does anything or makes any payment that would contravene the CBA, it shall be considered a contravention by the club itself and dealt with accordingly. It is specifically forbidden for any club or any owner to offer a player money to be paid after his retirement, or to offer any player an off-ice job or sponsorship at above-market pay.

I came here to discuss hockey, not stupid conspiracy theories. But if that's what people are going to subject me to, I'm going to kick about it.

If somebody can tell me what Keith is being paid for his new job, and show that it is above the normal pay for that position; or if they can show evidence of under-the-table payments made to Keith or Smith or anyone else — then let's hear it. Otherwise this is just a load of balloon juice.

This is 98% the same team that played with Woodcroft and his system for 54 games last year. How long do they need?

For reference, that is more games than 2 of the last 5 coaches had in Edmonton total, and 8 games shy of the 3rd.
