Just saw a YouTube clip of a bunch of a NHL stars answering who they think will score the most goals this season? Most guys said Matthews. A few said Ovechkin.
Huberdeau: “Lindholm’s going to score the most goals cause I’m probably going to play with him.”
Loving this guy already.

the difference in huberdeau and McDavid answering with their linemates is huby is clearly being funny with a bit of swagger while mcdavid is completely stoic in his response because he probably actually cant think of the name of a skilled scorer outside of edmonton . he just gets duller by the day living up there
After watching Tkachuk's interview during the first intermission tonight he came off as a bit of a d-bag without needing to at all. Says it wasn't about wanting to leave Calgary, then spends the rest of the time talking about Florida weather and golf carts. Just be honest, if a reporter asks why you left all Tkachuk has to say is "I liked the city but didn't like the weather". I can't see how anyone would get pissy from that type of answer, and hell I'm guessing a large chunk of Calgarians would agree. It's no secret why a 24-year old multi-millionaire would want to live in/around Miami, just own it

He also said he was committed to signing long term 3 years ago (same as Brady after his ELC) but that didn’t work for the team. So… he reciprocated the situation.
If he signed long term in 2019 for $8M/year or more his 2021 season would have looked even worse.
It worked out well for both sides. Move on.

Tkachuk will be one of my favourite ex flames for a long time. His departure negotiation has revitalized this team.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll rip him during a game, but no player departure has ever been with such mutual consideration.
Thanks Matty.

Lol if that was the answer considering his career choice. Would look stupid imo. It's like a surfer hating the water...

Well he set up his last contract to specifically hold the Flames hostage to his demands and desires this past offseason.
He would choose if he wanted to play here, and after that choice is made, either get to sign long term with a year in his old deal, or force the Flames qualify and have him walk at the end of the year, or force a trade only as to where he wants to go; he basically ends up deliberately playing one less year in Calgary then that contract was signed for, if he wasn’t going to stay…so let’s not give him the Key to the City.

Yeah Tkachuk helped himself as much as anyone...he saw the Flames roster minus Gaudreau and said f that I'm cashing in on my career season and going elsewhere. Would have been a massive risk for him to play this season without an extension.

Well, no. He played out his contract, and then exercised his right not to sign a long-term deal to stay here. He just didn't sign the additional one-year deal to take him straight to UFA.

I think this might give us a peek into the differences between a guy like Huberdeau and a guy like Tkachuk. Obviously, Huberdeau had no say in the trade moving him to Calgary, but he also had a choice in front of him - quietly ask for a trade similar to Tkachuk given the roster of the Flames or Huberdeau might actually believe that he is good enough to make the Flames a contending team. At minimum, I think he believes that him, Weegar and the remaining players has a legitimate shot. And this is all before Kadri signed.

Huberdeau at his current AAV would have been very attractive to a win-now team with no interest in an extension. So JH would take on significant risk of having to wait an entire year to sign his big deal, and could easily have had a poor UFA experience like Gaudreau.
Take the money when you can get it, sort out location later if you don't like it.

I’m only thanking Zito, we could have easily gotten a “meh” return that would have set this team back years, if not fill rebuild mode.
