Flames are a very different team from the one that lost in round 2 last year (not to mention their defence was injured and missing Tanev). I predict the Oilers will come out all cocky, fat, and sassy, and will end up losing as a result.
The game plan is simple: use your speed and high-pressure forecheck to exploit the Oilers' terrible D, and limit McDrai. Do that and you'll win.
The only question mark for me in this game is Markstrom. He was terrific in the Colorado game, so hopefully he can carry that over to this one.
I like Markstrom getting to face Edmonton first thing in the season. Get it out of the way, give him a chance to put the play off series behind him. Go Flames!

I'm out of touch, but how do we only play the Oilers three times all season?
I hate Edmonton. The less I have to see them the better. I'm really tired of all the idiots in Lethbridge with their Oilers jerseys, Tshirts and hats. They think they're the best thing since moldy cheese. They're still no good!

Really curious how the flames handle the oilers speed and transition game. This is where I hope the new additions can make a difference. Kadri and Weegar. Weegar is good at breaking up zone entries and this will be key and Kadri needs to be all over Mcdufus. I want to see the flames being hard on the oilers and especially Mcdufus and Crysaitl. The flames need to play smart physical hockey as the oilers are built as as skilled team and the flames should have an advantage. The forecheck will be key. Get on the defense and get them turning pucks over and slow them down through the neutral zone. Its GO TIME.
I hope we crush them, plain and simple. They’re overrated by everyone and it’s bugging me. Kane is going to have Kadri pissing himself

Been saying it since he got traded but I do think Huberdeau will struggle 5 on 5 this season to put up points.

We are getting Singh and Debrusk back to back arent we?
Ughhhh. Singh is annoying. And Debrusk when hes on national coverage with Singh, turns into Debbie Downer Remenda.

Not even gonna break a sweat with this one
We are gonna ice a 16 man roster and win 6-1.
Flames aren’t who they think they are

Kane should keep his head on a swivel for this one. I don’t trust Kadri not to do something stupid trying to avenge himself breaking his own thumb diving last year.

I feel like this year's Calgary team will be less stressful to play against compared to prior years. Regular season Gaudreau was so OP and owned us many nights. Also Huberdeau seems too nice of a guy to pull of any Thachuk antics, giving us the edge with Kane in the lineup.

Watching the flames fans cope on Calgarypuck "Edmonton Is no good" thread is good for a chuckle if you're bored before tomorrow's game.

Kadri never goes muscle on muscle though.
He's your prototypical rat who bites when youre most vulnerable.
Nurse is the one who will grab him n ragdoll him

McDavid and Draisaitl about to show Huberdeau, Weeger, and Kadri why Gaudreau and Tkachuk wanted out.

Back to topic. Calgary is the 5th oldest team in the league. Every other team that is older has won the Stanley cup. Calgary has won a first place division banner. Its hilarious Calgary is so leveraged into win now mode and that they aren't going anywhere. They're just old. Calgary will have some success this season but man they really are riding vet older players. Theres no promise in the lineup and theres no future.
Interestingly the Oilers are in win now mode and only a dozen clubs dressed a younger lineup to start this season. Our club would be even younger possibly but we had some cap restraints, injuries.. All the clubs younger than us are in rebuild mode.

Please win. Oilers fans have become so annoying that it would be nice to put them in their place. I love how they think Kane is going to police the game. Do they think Lucic is just going to let that happen or something?

He's going to likely be the one player that determines the outcome of the game outside of McDavid. If he plays up to his capabilities the Flames should win but he hasn't against the Oilers.
