Spoiler!

Now THAT was a home opener! Thought the team was headed for the14th straight loss given how the opening Avs goal went. But this team quickly proved they were ready for Sutter hockey and dominated the rest of the period soon after.

What a fun game that was against the defending champs. What a game.

The new star players all looked up to form. Especially Weegar. What a pickup he has been. Big congrats to Sutter for win #700.

Can definitely get used to this all season long!

Now hopefully the team can get some revenge against the Oilers in a few days.

This marks the first season opener won with Mikael Backlund in the lineup.

Also, apparently Michael Stone is the third longest tenured Flame right now.

Second photo looks like he's about to snap us a cup win. Or maybe make Connor disappear...

Man those rings are huge. I don't think he could fit four of them on one hand.

It’s all about balance and with the rings that size, you need two!

I had a nice 4 leg parlay last night that I ruined!

Over 6.5 goals - ✅
Elias Lindholm to score ✅
Dillon Dube to score ✅
Flames to score 1st

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I was so impressed by Huberdeau. Bigger body, same vision and hockey IQ as 13, really crisp hard passes in tough areas... he might not be as elusive as JG, but there's still an ELITE playmaker on the first line.

Huby finished quite a few checks last night - dude is physically engaged. I love it.

We are the same age, and were in the same place at the same time at 18.

That was quite the night to be 18 with a cup win.

A buddy of mine was getting dragged by a cop into a police van. I had his other hand and was pulling him the other way. "You want to come too?". Let him go.

I think there's still adjustment time for Huberdeau to Sutter's system. Wondered a couple times why this guy is fleeing the defensive zone if the puck gets loose even if we don't have full possession, and not checking back there. Was sort of odd, it was like seeing Iginla after 2007ish. who said you could play like that lol

Coincidence but I was 19 that night living on 12th ave (convenient in those days). I also had a buddy thrown in the back of a police van just outside of Coconut Joes during the cup winning festivities on the street. It's entirely possible we all crossed paths that night and/or our buddies were in the police van together ha ha ha.

Great win last night, and good to see the guys really communicating on the bench to speed up chemistry.

I would have been 1 in 1989 for the Cup win, and 21 in 2009 for the last Flames win in a home opener.

Hopefully the next 33 years of Flames hockey are more memorable than the last 33 years were since the cup win in 1989.

Try wrapping your head around the fact that you might be pushing it to see 40 more seasons!

But then with the cancer battle 3 years ago, at the time I would have been happy to see 10.

I was also 18 when the Flames won the cup and I was also down on 11 Ave celebrating. What a night!

On last night's game -- so awesome to beat the cup champs in our home opener. This team with the new guys should be a ton of fun to watch this year. Looking forward to schooling the Oil's crap D on the weekend. GFG
