The underrated bad coaching decision of the night was McDaniels bypassing the 4th and 1 to kick the FG to go up 17-0. What made it even weirder is they had already gone for a 4th and 1 in their own half of the field (and got a TD out of it). If you feel like you have to go for it on 4th down in your own half, you should surely feel the same at the opponents 34. And sure enough the Chiefs woke up and scored on five straight drives after that. Can't be kicking FGs in that situation.
But it's to go up three possessions. Going for it on 4th and 1 in their own half in a 0-0 game, and throwing it deep, was equivalent to a fake punt, a surprise play. You can't do that every time, as you saw from the final play of the game.

In the first half of the game just 3 Raiders penalties. Andy has an animated discussion with the officials at the end of the first half and then 8 penalties on the Raiders in the 2nd half including the defensive holding penalty on a FG. A call that has not been made since 2015 and guess who it got called on? Raiders Khalil Mack. It seems calls like this and the tuck rule were made for the Raiders. It's Al's fault for suing the league but man the league never forgets.

A different angle -- seems like Adams had his head down and the photographer unexpectedly walked right in front of him as he was heading into the tunnel.
Reminds me a bit of the Wideman incident. And yes, Adams could have stopped to make sure the guy was okay, but he was probably frustrated and indicated as such in a tweet after the game.
These 5 yard holding penalties that give automatic first downs are a bit much. Call them if they're legit, but make it replay the down as 4th and 10. The Chiefs just kick the field goal there in all likelihood. I don't see that being any worse than jumping offside to try and block a kick.

A three score lead with 10 minutes left matters. With 40 minutes left? Against the best QB alive? Irrelevant. The Raiders choked a three score lead in half that time against the Cardinals. Four more points is more important than a three possession lead with that much time and considering the opposition.

But that's why the 2 point conversion was so dumb. You make that and Mahomes gets the ball back with lots of time and you have a 1 point lead. Whereas you kick the single, you're tied and virtually in the same spot.
There were a lot of questionable decisions to go around last night though. The coaches made their fair share though!
Oh I agree it was dumb. Besides risking putting yourself behind, even if you do score the 2 you've only incentivized them to be more aggressive. They have to score vs. they would like to, but will accept OT.

Geno would legitimately be in the MVP debate right now if their defense wasn't terrible, he's been terrific so far, significantly better than Russ. If he keeps it up it'll put the Seahawks in a bit of a conundrum whether to sign him long term or not. Would probably play tag is my guess.

You guys went like 7-0 in one-score games last year. Easiest regression to spot in the entire league.
for one its a very different team, far more talented
two its not just that they are losing 1 score games...they have had massive leads and multiple chances to when said games and have blown it with fumbles, penalties, ridiculous play calls.
All this being said they are right in there against a top team on the road
They are 1-4 with a -5 point differential, I know people love piling on the Raiders but that is pretty unfortunate...1-4 Steelers are -51
I bet they go on a run coming out of the bye though

Geno makes $3.5M this season. That's ~7% what Russ will take home!
Will be due for a big raise especially with teams like the Colts and Panthers desperate for a QB. Will be a very tough call for the Hawks to re-sign.
