Honestly, between his ability to jump in as needed with minimal rust, his shot, and his min deals this guy is doing a ton for the team. Love the Stone. I bet if we give him the PP time Hanafin gets he’d have 3x the points.

player is paid a different salary depending on whether they are on the NHL roster or minor league
a one way means the player is paid the same regardless if they are on the NHL team or in the minor leagues
I swear this gets more complicated every year my understanding also was that on a 2-way he doesnt need to clear waivers to go up or down? Is that accurate anymore?
Basically Stone is just the most easy, utility player possible. He can come and go, doesnt take up much cap, doesnt have to go through waivers, if you need him one night he's right there...
And he'll be right there blasting away! I love it!
Shovel the puck to the blueline and then GTFO of the way!!

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

A 2 way has no impact on waiver eligibility. That is a common misconception. I think it started because in the EA video games players on 2 way contracts don't need waivers.
Stone would need to clear waivers to be assigned to the AHL.

Thank you. I can never keep this straight, so what is the contract status where the player doesnt need to clear waivers? Is there such a mythical beast?
Because if for whatever reason we had to yo-yo Stone and some jerkface team claimed him I'd be irrationally pissed.

Waiver status is not tied to a player's contract. It is a product if age and experience.

I think this is unlikely. Even if a team were interested in claiming Stone I suspect that it is common knowledge by now that he has no interest in leaving his family in Calgary. Most teams will probably not bother, knowing he would be just as likely to retire as to report. It's better to use your waiver priority on a player you are confident is more interested in playing on your team.
