I agree with your comments on Wickenheiser.
Cassie needs to be off the list as her husband worked for Hockey Canada in the past. She can hardly be impartial.
Need business people to head this up, not the same old hockey people.

It makes sense to me if you want to change the culture of hockey in this country that you do it by hiring all new people that have no previous associations with the Hockey Canada.

Essentially there was growing resentment towards her among young female players who felt there were better and younger options for the national team and that Wickenheiser had played too long. There was a feeling that she was being gifted her spot on the team due to her name, and not because she was the best person currently available for the job. There was a feeling, rightly or wrongly, that she was "stealing" jobs from younger players.
She also took a ton of heat (for the same reasons) when she played CIS with the Dinos in her mid-30's. CIS is a way bigger deal for the female game than it is for the men's, so I can understand that.

All former Olympians had some involvement. But I'm guessing you don't mean just as a player.

I agree with others here, you don't need people who played hockey running organizations, you need people who have education and experience running organizations as administrators running these kinds of establishments. Someone who doesn't have affiliations with the "higher ups" of hockey in Canada.
Hockey Canada can always bring in the "experts" of hockey in to support, but administrators should be experts at administrating, not hockey players becoming administrators without any education, especially at this high of a level.

I think there needs to be some hockey connection because they run grassroots hockey as well. Though I suppose the NHL hired Bettman with no hockey experience at all.

A bit of diversity would probably help. So not all former players, but some. And some women. And some visible minorities. This should be a great opportunity for a reset.

I don't think Burke being American would be an issue. In fact, if you wanted to keep some hockey people in it, it might be best to look outside of Canada.
I doubt Burke would be interested in jumping into that mess though. He has a good thing going in Pittsburgh and gets to dedicate a lot of his time to his charities.

Burkes been at the head of multiple NHL organizations, you don't think he's buried some skeletons in his day? What happens when one of his good ol' boys is finger pointed?
