Confirmed by some people on Flames twitter, their not always trust worthy but apparently the Team store confirmed that they had sent out all the Huberdeau Jerseys to get a C put on which is why they didn't have many during the pre season

I don't know if contract $/term should dictate anything, big contracts are signed in free agency before players ever play for a team. But I agree with you that he definitely comes across as a natural leader with killer work ethic and exudes all that captain-like energy. I was also thinking they would start the season without a captain and announce him further into the year. Won't be mad at the decision either way!

Huberdeau all the way, I don't even think there is a question about it. Backlund would be a natural option but he won't be the main leader on this team much longer, I think he'll retire a flame but Huberdeau is a natural leader, a superstar, he speaks with that leadership poise in the media. I just don't see how he isn't going to get it right now, why wait?

I really like the idea of Hub coming in hungry and wanting to be the guy that pushes the team forward. He was probably able to win the teams respect in a way that Tkachuk never did during preseason.

With Lindholm's comments and Sutter behind the bench I think it unlikely that this is an organization push to make the trade look even better.
Would hope that isn't a factor.
As I said doesn't seem to be as I can't see Sutter rubber stamping a call like that.

Has there been an actual announcement of a press conference? Haven't seen anything from the Flames or the main stream Flames media.
Could be people are just jumping the gun because the media room is set up.
