I'm sure there are some toxic parents who produce good kids and some good parent who produce toxic kids as well as a fair number of toxic parents who produce toxic kids.
Toxic parents are definitely an issue related to elite-level sports.

I think its more nuanced than that. I havent coached real 'Elite Level Sports' the best I've done is top-level youth soccer, but its not even Toxic parents...have you ever seen a parent that is 'owned' by their kid?
That is the worst.
I'm the coach, you cant bully me.
"Then I'll get my mom/dad to get me what I want!"
They cant influence me either. I have nothing for them to take or threaten.
But it is insane. You've got a child running the show with predictable results. Regardless of how good they are at sports, they are still children.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I think the sports leagues need to come up with a plan to act quickly on these things. If you look at this tweet - it is from a newly created account with this as its only activity.
I'm not discrediting this claim - but what does the league do if before a game 7 or a playoff round - something like this comes out. No matter what they do they are going to cause outrage. They should come up with a blanket policy they can point to and a plan on how they can at least try to determine if its completely baseless or something that needs further investigation.
Was gonna start a thread on this. He also apparently slept with an engaged reporter who worked for the Hurricanes last season. Doesn’t seem to be a great person.
I completely agree, but we are only able to control the “parenting” inside of a hockey program, not inside of their home.
It is 100% as much up to the parents of these players to raise children that would see this type of behavior as unacceptable by the time they reach the more advanced stages of minor hockey. There are way too many "elite hockey or elite sport parents" that don't give a hoot about anything away from the ice, be it education, personal conduct or family values (let's be clear this is not just a hockey issue either).
Where the teams come in, is not tolerating this behavior in any way, shape or form. If they all start doing a better job of it from Junior through to Pro, instances like this (and others we are all aware of) will become increasingly non-existent.

I hate to tell you this, but I’ve just launched an air biscuit
i think a lot of this behavior starts to develop around the time of bantam hockey, and i'd assume it is more prevalent at the quadrant/AA-AAA (etc) level as these kids start to take big strides forward and some start to realize they are special
the dressing room can be a complicated place in terms of power and boys trying to fit in versus the ones with the "power"

I ####ing hope it is.

Still guilty. Just look at the comments a lot of posters made in here before they actually knew anything about if this happened or not. Today's society is broken, accusations are all that need to made for the public court of opinion to find you guilty and start trashing you publically. Notice how the thread was rolling with trashy comments until the investigation cleared him, then crickets.
