Lots of teams will have $0 in cap space today because a lot of teams will be getting as close to the cap as possible to do their LTIR moves. The difference is how much LTIR space is captured. The Oilers did a pretty good job of it, unfortunately, as they'll be allowed to exceed the cap by 7.1M all season which wastes almost no LTIR. I was skeptical but they did pull it off ultimately.
What their actual opening night roster looks like we will presumably see tomorrow.

My brother just sent me a haiku that my 7 year old nephew wrote at school. Priceless!
The Oilers are trash
They will never win the cup
Cry like a Baby

Man the Yotes are dumb. Kassian was the 1st line winger for the ultra high octane Oilers. I forget the trade, but I assume the Oilers got a haul for him.

That's one of those very proud moments of parenting that should elicit a tear of happiness. It's every parents dream for their children to grow up understanding what's good and what's no good.

I guess the Yote's don't have a high priced superstar that he can pretend to protect...

We’re visiting relatives in Regina for Thanksgiving and went to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum to see the dinosaur exhibit.
I showed my 4 year old girls the Edmontosaurus.
In unison the three of them immediately said “Edmonton is noooo good”.
Proud papa indeed.

Some of my earliest hockey memories are by dad telling me to hate the Oilers.
It warms my heart that folks are passing on these useful lessons.

So the Oilers have created a subscription for $9/mth their fans can pay for exclusive content to continue to separate the tier 1 from tier 2 fan

Watching TSN's season preview and its 3-2 for the panel for the Oilers going to the Cup finals. 2 picked Calgary.
But its all on the Conna and Pissy. And they need to fix their blueline.
I think that the Oilers are going to rank as one of the biggest disappointments to the media in NHL history.

What kind of content? Like home videos of McD attempting to play basketball on floor 7 1/2?

So... no one picked the Colorado Avalanche? Seriously?

I would say this significantly underrates the uncertainty surrounding a starting goalie who was so utterly mediocre last year that the team that employed him figured, "let's just get the Ottawa Senators' second best goalie instead - that should be a lateral move for us".

You haven't been paying attention for the last 15 years. The media will continue to pick the Oilers as cup favourites year after year regardless of actual performance.
