Take Gauthier and wave Ritchie or wait and trade after they clear. I think Gauthier could really help the team, if coach finds a way to teach him to score he could be that unicorn. Even if he can't score, he can skate fast and is big...teach him to hit properly and he will be a wrecking ball.

Problem is he has zero hockey sense and can’t play defense so he will never make it playing for Sutter.

Loved Simmonds in his prime but now he’s a poor man’s Lucic. No thanks.

Exactly right. Denis showed up to camp one year jacked up to 230lbs, but it affected his speed so much (he was never fast to begin with) that he was sent down to the minors.

I'd love to bring Bemstrom over to Club Sweden. Based on his NHL history to date he sounds pretty much like what we hoped Pelletier would be this year

the Athletic has writeups on 15 players they consider to be the most interesting on waivers

Chris Tierney really had some nice numbers a few years back. There's obviously a reason he's being waived, but if he could get back some of what he had back then, he could make a nice 3rd line winger. Sounds like he's reliable in all 3 zones, good penalty killer, and can chip in on offense. Has nice size too. Like I say, there's a reason he was waived.

The Athletic article says Bemstrom is one of 8 players to score over 20 goals in the SHL in a season as a teenager, putting him in some very elite company, such as Naslund and Forsberg. He seems to have an excellent defensive game, with vast, untapped potential. Perhaps he could become another Jarnkrok, at least?

Hoping flames don’t put in claims. At best the waiver players are projects. Flames don’t have time for projects on main club this year. They have a legit chance at Stanley cup. If flames can afford it , they need to make a trade for a real top 9 winger. Preferably a top 6 winger. And no , flames shouldn’t be trading a dman to get it done.

That speedy Finn from Florida is the only player I’m interested in, because I enjoy taking things from the Cats.

With so many key roster changes in the off-season, perhaps too much tinkering around the edges isn't what's needed.

Yeah a top 6 or top 9 forward is easy to get without giving anything except magic beans.

At the end of the day, can Huberdeau carry the team like Johnny did. Can Kadri replace Tkachuk contribution? Can Markstrom repeat his Vezina form.

All the other pieces just need to maintain their performance.

Wow I didn't even see that Heponiemi was on waivers. I'll be surprised if he doesn't get claimed. Would be a dream if we somehow snagged him.

I really hope that Calgary is seriously considering Wayne Simmonds. I know the majority of people on here seem to not be in favor of giving him a shot, but its a low risk pick up. He's on a cheap deal, he is an RW, by all accounts is a great leader and loved by his teammates.

Yes I understand he is not the player he was and yes he's slowing down but for under million a year the expectation should not be to have him scoring 20 a year.

Just my opinion and I would be very surprised if Calgary makes this move, but for me ill be more then excited to see him in red.

I'm just going to repost my thoughts from earlier. Nobody should be getting too jazzed over him.

If you were to pick him up you'd have to shelter him a lot. Not sure it's worth it.
