I'd take a flier on Janmark or Martinook if I were an NHL GM.

Looks like Janmark made the wrong choice signing there. He should have looked at capfriendly first.

Martinook is an intriguing name. Fast player with a good work ethic. Plays well at both ends of the ice. Not great offensive production, but a solid bottom 6 guy. Just $1.8 M for this year and next. I'm sure someone will snag him.

Klim Kostin could be an interesting reclamation project for someone who has the roster space

Andreas Johnsson put up 35 pts in 71 games last season but his $3.4 mil cap hit will probably make a waiver claim difficult.

Always thought he would put it together but he's the definition of 1 dimensional and doesn't even try hard enough at that one dimension in the NHL. Best shot in the ahl though.

The only thing worse than getting cut by the oilers and having to play in Bakersfield, is not getting cut and having to play in Edmonton.

Surprised Johnson is there.

Solid player but carries a somewhat significant cap hit.

Exactly. 0.5 PPG production is quit decent.

Surprised.

Johnsson is only owed $750k for the rest of the season. He makes sense for a cap floor team to take a chance on.

Did Janmark deserve to be cut, or was this just the Oilers trying to shave a little cap space? Some of the season previews I read listed Janmark as a great signing for them.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bill Armstrong has already put in a claim on Johnsson

From what I heard/read from coil fans was that he was a great addition and would make their middle 6 "best in the league"

Imagine signing someone and getting your fans excited, only to have to waive him because you managed your cap like a 5 year old managed a dollar in a candy store.

Part of the Oilers plan to maximize LTIR relief. They could have also waived Ryan for the same effect.

Martinook on waivers also allows Carolina to maximize their LTIR relief

That's a great analogy!

Really don't see the Flames putting a claim in.

While he is only paid $750k, his cap hit is still $3.4 mil. They would need to do some fancy salary cap magic to fit him in.

He also had a bad camp by all reports coming out of NJ.

If it didn't make sense to sign Milano to a lesser cap hit, it really doesn't makes sense with Johnsson.
