Well, I'm glad to see that it wasn't a runaway for Smith.

Smith had the most with 41%. Hopefully is goes to a third vote where Smith is taken out.
FWIW.... Back in the day, Gary Mar had 41% and Alison Reford had 17% and yet she won on the third ballot.

Gonna be really hard for Toews to make up that ground... even 50% of Loewen and Jean going to Smith would be enough to put Smith over the top.
Genuinely surprised at how poorly Jean did. I knew Smith had the momentum on that wing of the party, but not to that extent.

This is going to a fourth ballot, Smith and Toews will be within a few points.

Jean will probably be bumped higher after the second ballot. Could be a really surprising outcome on the third.

Nope. Even if Aheer, Schultz, Loewen, and Sawhney voters all went 100% for Jean, that would give him 29.3%, still behind Toews.

Going to a third ballot. Smith has to be worried now.

Why? They dropped 1.6% and she couldn’t win from those votes.

I wouldn't be if I was Smith. The only time I'd start to worry if I were her is if I'm not pulling in 60% of Loewen's votes when he gets bumped. Almost all of Aheer's went to Sawhney and Schultz, which is expected. She doesn't need any of those, just a good chunk of Loewen and Jean's.

Me too. I’ve met Brian, Danielle and Travis personally. Smith means well, I believe it, but she is very, very naive. Toews is solid and even-keeled, but too “corporate”. Jean appeared to be the most sincere and caring politician, whose personal tragedy transpired into a desire to improve the system. I believe that he is capable of at least making an honest effort.

This will likely be decided on the fifth ballot. I think Schulz has a chance of leapfrogging Loewen but once Loewen's votes come off the board, you'd think most of them would go to Smith.

Doesn't matter. Aheer is the most centrist candidate. Those votes are irrelevant to her.

I think Toews might have a chance here.
