I'm more concerned with how we replace Eakins legendary hair. You just can't coach that.

Young Dustin Wolf will have to grow his fiery mane out.

Eakin's hair is disgusting. Glad he isn't on the team for that alone.

there is enough there if they are a strong defensive team to win 45 games and notch 100 points , but won't be winning those 6-2 games every other night like last year . And that's fine if they are a better team in tight games
|
That's 165 goals from your top 8 forwards. That is not nearly enough for 45 wins in my estimation. If you get say 50 goals from the rest of the lineup we'd only be a 215 goal team, that's a bottom 5 team offensively. The playoff teams with the least offense had 20 more goals than that. Anyways, I hope that the boys will have a lot more offense than what you've listed.

It really is tragic that Kyllington is missing out after blossoming into an NHLer

then you'll get another 30-35 goals from the top 4 D alone . the Flames strength is on the back end so keep that in mind . I think they end up around 230 goals for, 190 against

Honestly didn't think either PTO forward invites even dented the incumbent players shots at roster spots. Disappointed Milano wasn't even close to competing for a spot. He honestly looked really lost out there.
Eakin was a nickel in a pool of dime a dozen players.Dont think he made even the 4th line any better than it already is with what the Flames have.

Milano is the type the Oilers would pick up.

Neither of the PTO guys moved the needle and deserved to be cut. I understand the PTO contracts that teams hand out and they are hoping they find some gold in them (Versteeg) but the biggest disappointment to me is the young guys not being able to outplay them and stick around.
The table was set this year for Pelletier and/or someone else to take a spot and they didn't perform even good enough to beat these guys out of a spot. The coaches and GMS's will give the older guys some slack in camp because they have a good idea what they are capable of doing so they are just wanting a young guy to take the spot. I really understand what Sutter is saying all the time.

PTOs have to move the needle. Like boxing…you have to knock out the champion; don’t leave it to judges scorecards or points.
Wish both PTOs good luck in finding something. It does suck for them.

Zary did. Sutter succinctly said his demotion was a pure numbers decision. Other than that, yeah anyone not named Wolf or Zary didn't even touch the bar.

Flames waive and demote Valimaki, don't sign Stone to NHL deal yet, have to keep Gilbert on LTIR and Valimaki as non roster counting on cap, they hit the cap exactly
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli
Mangiapane - Kadri - Dube
Zohorna - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Rooney - Lewis
Ex. Ruzicka, Ritchie (IR)
Hanifin - Andersson
Zadorov - Weegar
Mackey - Tanev
Ex. Meloche, Kylington (non-roster), Gilbert (IR)
Markstrom
Vladar
If they want to save a few bucks, risk Meloche to waivers and sign Stone for less.
Gilbert has to start on roster in IR as he has a one way deal, but Popisil and Petterson can be on SOIR and not impact cap

Yes, this is true for the kids, but I think this also kind of detracts from just how great Dillon Dube was in training camp. He was the fittest Flame, and he looked like dynamite in every game in which he played. I think both he and Dan Vladar had the best camp of all the players, and I think he earned that second line assignment without reservation.

Not over-reacting to anything. I simply brought up an issue that will, at some point, become a thing.

Out of curiosity, who pays for Milano and Eakins flights in to Calgary and now that they got cut, who pays for their flights home?

I have zero idea but I'm assuming teams would include return airfare tickets and hotel stays in all PTO invites. Or maybe the NHLPA union does? I would be surprised if that comes out of the pockets of the players.
