Taylor Tinfoiley had a bad game. I'm very late to this party.

Leave Tyler Typhoidly alone. How did Hannaffan play?

It was very clear in the 2022 playoffs that the flames lacked “finishers”. It may be reading too much into the preseason games, but last night showed the Flames still lack finishers, and the loss of Gaudreau and Tkachuk’s goal scoring hasn’t been replaced. Huberdeau is great at assists, but there may not be anyone who can receive the great passes well. The lack of finish problem is likely to be worse, and I hate to say it, but I don’t see them doing better than last year. The number 2 ranking of the Flames behind the Leaves is way too optimistic.

I'm more interested in how Hyuberdoh and Kadreey are meshing with the team.

Could be the case.

You take two 40 goal scorers out and replace them with set up guys yeah there could be a gap.

But that's more of a October 20th worry for me, not a preseason concern.

Finishing looks to be down.
Playmaking up.
Strength down the middle up.
Transition from D up.

Its kind of a mixed bag of change.

Kadri is killing it . huberdeau is being creative but nobody is on his frequency right now and players are missing his passes left and right

It's still the preseason so not huge concerns yet. I'm still eyeing the season opener. How have we fared in that game these last 2, 3 or 12 years?

As Flames fans, we should assume the season starts with game #2.

Huberdeau needs a better winger than Toffoli. Our gap at right wing is a big problem.

The advanced stats mostly show that we did well last night, but Hanifin - Stone, and the 4th line were the weak links. That said, I agree with coach that it was mostly a special teams game.

I was hoping this would be the year but then the league schedules the Avalanche as their opponent. Still it's better than handing the Oilers or Canucks 2 points in the standings.

With game #2 being in EDM on HNIC, we should assume the season starts with game #3

Seriously though, the schedule is actually quite good to start the season. I know people like road trips, as a bonding thing, but the fact of the matter is that home stands allow for practice time. And the Flames won't spend a night on the road until Nov 6th. That's a full month of practice days (minus game days) to work on lines, special teams, etc.

While there is obviously a lot of work to do with respect to chemistry, and getting this team to where it needs to be, the schedule is actually pretty terrific for them. I actually expect that they will get off to a fairly strong start from the first 10 games

Extremely interested in seeing how Markstrom does against Edmonton in game 2.

I like what I have seen from Huberdeau a lot, but I also don't think he has been particularly sharp in the preseason.

Maybe being an obvious underdog is what fixes our game 1 problems.

We're getting awfully worked up over the result of a preseason game, aren't we...
